DD is Penny Amelia, looking for a sibling name. DF hates all of them but it's tough. His suggestions are Luna, Autumn and Talia but I don't think they go with Penny at all. Anyway here goes;
Penny and Susie
Penny and Sadie
Penny and Rose
Penny and Paige
Penny and Amber
Penny and April
Penny and Hazel

Mn would be Eloise, Elodie, Olivia, Annabelle or April or Amber if not used.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Babel1111 · 26/02/2014 11:56

No I didn't invent it, it's commonly used on other baby naming sites, I believe it's 'set of siblings' imo it makes posting on forums much quicker iyswim :) I'm not sure if you've read the full thread fideline but I've given a couple of examples of what I mean by matching names and all of your 'suggestions' are things I said I did not want, Not to mention quite silly, a waste of time, and almost looking for an argument.

Ok so your children are a 'set'

Penny and Farthing?
Penny and Lope?
Penny and Jenny?
Penny and Polly?

fideline · 26/02/2014 11:40

Sibset?! Did you invent that term OP?

Babel1111 · 26/02/2014 11:34

Yes penny and susie work together in the shop on balamory! Not sure if that puts me off or not hmm

UriGeller · 26/02/2014 11:30

I like Susannah, (your 'Susie')
And it goes well with Penelope

But arent Susie and Penny characters off of Balamory? If not, it sounds like they are..

I'd say Rosa. Or Rosa which I think is a bit sweeter than Rose.

Babel1111 · 26/02/2014 11:26

Well yeah can't pick your partners name can you so that makes that point moot. The reason I think names should match is because for pretty much your entire life, you'll be saying those 2 names together. If you talk about your children you say 'I've got 2 girls, penny and ' so they need to compliment each other. In a similar way to how when you name your child, you pick a name you like the sound of. It makes no difference to your child, their personality or how you will raise them, you just pick a name that sounds nice when you say it. Making sure sibling names sound nice together is them same thing, imo anyway.

I really don't understand the obsession I often hear on here about siblings matching. Why on earth should they? They are only ever heard together with any regularity in childhood. It seems a bit like claiming couples should have names s that match in style to me. Confused

Lottystar · 26/02/2014 10:52

Why not choose one of each of your lists, like Autumn Rose (very pretty) or Talia Paige, perhaps you will find agreement that way? Otherwise I'd grab a baby name book and every night go through a few pages together, find a new name entirelySmile

BetterWithCheese · 26/02/2014 10:20

I quite like Luna and I see it as quite a gentle name. I think the suggestions up thread of Matilda/Tilly and Josephine/Josie are great and really go with Penny. I think from your list Susie goes best.

manicinsomniac · 26/02/2014 09:59

From your list I love Sadie and Amber and like April and Rose.
From your partner's list I like Autumn

Josephine - josie

Anya
Olivia - Livvy
Matilda - Tilly

OneMoreThenNoMore · 26/02/2014 08:39

I like Susie and Rose, but my favourite is Luna. I think it sounds really good with Penny. Smile

Theonlyoneiknow · 26/02/2014 08:36

What about Natalie nn Talia?

Babel1111 · 26/02/2014 08:33

If the names on my list don't go with Penny, would you mind posting some suggestions. I understand that our perception of names is totally subjective, and how one person hears a name can be totally different to the next person, but posting on a forum asking the opinions of a diverse group of people will at least get me a general consensus of what people think about the names I like

OP posts:
RiverTam · 26/02/2014 08:26

'sibset'???

Rose
Luna

I don't get that a lot of the names on your list 'go' with Penny?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 26/02/2014 08:22

Penny and Sadie or Susie. Susanna is nice if you wanted a "grown up" alternative for formal, and there's nothing wrong with Susan, either.

Babel1111 · 26/02/2014 08:18

Oooh no I think sibsets have to match! Not like, Christian and Christina, or Jenny and Kenny, but match in style. I know a Richard and Zain sibset and It always baffles me. The names are so so different in style, It sits strange with me. Like I would have had Richard and Thomas, 2 strong old fashioned names, or Zain and Lex, 2 new trendy names, for example. That's why I'm not sure on a traditional sweet Penny and brand fire new Luna.

OP posts:
wiltingfast · 26/02/2014 08:18

You realise the "matching" thing is a completely arbitrary idea you have in your head? To me some of those names don't go at all, Paige for example seems to me a v serious name compared to Penny and Amber is just v different.

Not saying you should pay the slightest attention to how they sound to me btw, I'm just saying others won't think about that at all.

Fwiw, I like Penny and Susie best. And I think Susie Olivia is lovely. I also his Talia.

What's wrong with Penny and Talia? It is no worse/better really than Penny and Amber surely?

Sorry, I just don't really follow why you think your names "match"?

Looking at the list again I actually really like Hazel too. Hazel Eloise!

Pooka · 26/02/2014 08:13

Or Susanna with nickname Susie.

I went to school with a penny who had a sister called Joanna.

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/02/2014 08:12

Or Sarah with nn as Sadie.....

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/02/2014 08:11

I like Susan with Susie as a nn.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2014 08:10

Yes, Susie is very sweet, I agree

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2014 08:09

Oh, I adore the name Penny! (I am not being helpful am I!).

Of your dh's names I like Luna. I also like Hazel.

Monkeyandanimal · 26/02/2014 08:09

I like Susie. It goes well with penny, though tbh, i don't see why it needs to 'go' at all! Susie is really sweet.

CalmTheFarm · 26/02/2014 08:09

Autumn is lovely and I like Paige from your list.
