Alexandra or Norah

Baby has already arrived and still without a name. Norah is husbands choice and Alexandra is mine I think. Husband has left it totally up to me as together we don't seem to be able to come to a decision. I think Alexandra is the safe option as I think Norah is abit out there and might provoke a negative response in family and friends. Just wanted to see what others thought.

Nora Ephron was another brilliant Nora.

C'mon the Noras!

Alexandra.

If I were to have a Nora/h, I would spell it Norah.

Puddles1234 · 23/02/2014 00:49

Congratulations.

I prefer Alexandrina to Alexandra.

HuggleBuggleBear · 23/02/2014 00:49

I also prefer Norah without the h. My husband likes it with the h as in Norah Jones.

Other names in the running have been Annie, Alice, Jess, Meg.

I just can't see us deciding any time soon.

I like Norah. Either with or without the 'h'. There's the singer/song writer Norah Jones as a more modern example than Nora Batty Grin

Alexandra is very nice too, classic and as said above, lots of nn options.

Also, I aim to be a Nora Batty in old age, still setting male hearts aflutter, but my tights and I won't take any crap from anyone!

squoosh · 23/02/2014 00:45

I much prefer Nora (without the H). It reminds me of Nora Barnacle, James Joyce's wife and muse.

Alexandra is perfectly inoffensive but I think it's quite dull and I favour names that have two syllables or less.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 23/02/2014 00:43

I like them both. Alexandra just wins though. Also definitely Nora without the "h"

MrsGingerbread · 23/02/2014 00:42

I thought of Batty and Jones with Norah...

Vijac · 23/02/2014 00:42

I love Alexandra. Norah fine.

MrsGingerbread · 23/02/2014 00:41

Congratulations! :)

I like them both, Alexandra has lots of lovely nns - Lexi, Alex, Andi..... Do you have one of these that you like as it is likely to get shortened.

ZenNudist · 23/02/2014 00:40

Alexandra

Isn't Nora usually spelt without an 'h' at the end?

My first thought is to say 'Nora Batty' tbh, as is my dcs (before people say it's an age thing) as wrinkly tights are just known as "Noras" or "Nora Battys" whatever your age.

So, I much prefer Alexandra, myself.
