Alexandra or Norah

Baby has already arrived and still without a name. Norah is husbands choice and Alexandra is mine I think. Husband has left it totally up to me as together we don't seem to be able to come to a decision. I think Alexandra is the safe option as I think Norah is abit out there and might provoke a negative response in family and friends. Just wanted to see what others thought.

I prefer Nora (without the h), but do immediately think 'bloody nora!'

Nora or Norah -- both gorgeous. I know three under 10 and a few teens.

Alexs and Alis and Allys are two a penny round here. And Lexis who are short for Alexandra. There are a few in every class.

I know a 3 year old Norah and a 2 year old Nora. I like the "h".

Alexandra is a very grand name I think. Nora/h is sweeter. They're just very different.

Take your time wi the decision. There's really no rush - people can wait.

Until recently I'd have said definitely no to Norah, but I know of one who was born last year, and now I think it's one of the best new baby names I've heard of! Her mum is a pretty cool, bubbly person though and the little one seems to be following in her footsteps. It's really made the point to me that it's the child who makes the name, rather than the other way around.

Norah with or without the h is not the most attractive name.

My very best friend as a small child was called Nora Mary aka Norma I love that name.

Surprised by negative comments on Norah. I think it is very nice. I think Norah jones and also the film nick and Norah... Alexandra is also lovely but I like the full name and think it would be shortened, personally I'm not so keen on Alex, Lexi etc.

I really like both, Alexandra - Classic.
Nora much more unusual and therefore interesting.

My decider would be what you think would look best on an application form or a CV and therefore the winner has to be Alexandra.
