Berlin for a girls name!?

We are expecting twin girls in July and are obviously already stressing about names Shock OH likes Berlin for one but I'm not so sure... Is it a proper name? Is it a bit out there? Will it grow on me? We were thinking middle name Beatrix so I suppose she could use that....Thanks

If you already anticipate she'll not like Berlin,and Beatrix is back up name don't do it

Definitely 'out there' but a lovely place. I'd only go for it if
a) you have very special personal associations with the city and
b) you have an equally out there non-name funky name for her sister

It wouldn't be fair to have a Berlin and an Imogen for example.

Agree, excellent as a middle name though.

Sorry but it's another Confused no from me too. You might get away with it if you are famous or really rich with a double barrelled surname but otherwise it sound too harsh and trying to hard.

Right.
I spent a long time overthinking about it, with a glass of wine.

There is a lovely perfume called Fille De Berlin and it smells of roses.
Berlin has a lot of Linden trees, which smell all lovely as well.

So, if I were to apply this to baby names and would come to Linden and Rose.

Berlin is full of shit. Literally. I've lived here for over twenty years and I love the place, but there is a somewhat laissez-faire attitude to dog poo on the streets. Is that really the right connotation?

Ironically, Germans are awfully strict about what you can name babies and wouldn't let you call your child that in Germany. Thank goodness. I really don't understand this trend for unusual names just for the sake of it .

there is a very sexy female character called Berlin in the film the secret life if David Gale. she carries it off but I'm not sure a baby would.

Instead of Berlin what about Belinda? Beatrix is in a different league to Berlin imo. Beatrix is a lovely name. Choose Beatrix!

Love Beatrice and prefer that spelling to the Beatrix potter spelling. But a lovely name anyway.
