Help in naming dd6 (dc10). I need opinions on some potential names .

we are expecting a girl in early July . she will be dd6 and dc10 .
Our shortlist include
Miranda lovely meaning but dh thinks it may be too associated with Miranda Hart
Clarissa
Winifred i love it for it's meaning but not sure if it's too clunky
Merewen love this especially it's meaning but is it too different
Cecilia
Hester

i really like the names Hester and Winifred but our surname is Westw**d .

so the question is could Hester Westw*d work or is the fact that it rhymes a real issue.?We've already discounted Esther for dd5 as we felt Esther Westw*d might sound to like a compass reference .

likewise is Winifred Westw**d OK or is the alliteration too much ?

dh has also suggested the name Mirabel but we have an Arabella .would Arabella and Mirabel be to samey for siblings ?

I also love the name Cecilia but we had major naming issues last time round dh initially agreeing to Cecilia but then changing his mind at the last minute and insisting on a name i really disliked but agreeing to cecily as a mn . In the end we changed dd5's name when she was a few months old to a compromise name .So i'm not sure whether i should avoid Cecilia as i don't want to open up any past hurts iyswim .

Your opinions would be welcome as i'm not sure if i'm over thinking some of these issues .

I know I kind of think babars wife, but its a lovely name.
Don't know how I feel on pricilla, think I would worry what type of child I would get if I used that name as its needs a strong personality.
How about a mumsnet fab ottilly?
Or Persephone?

i like celia but i have considered it as a nn for cecilia more than a stand alone name ,although i know it is .

From your list I like Merewen best.

bluechampagne i have considered the name Kerenza it has such a lovely meaning but have a close friend whose daughter is Karen so discounted it for this reason .
i like Romily but dh vetoed it .

Go with merewen, it goes lovely with your other kids beautiful names don't name the new one Winifred or Hester they will feel short changed as the other kids names are so nice

What about Meriel ,came across a family in a magazine the other day who have a Perpetua and Helvetica .

I love Hester but can see the concern ,not so keen on Winifred but love Winnie, what about Roberta ?

showy i really like Josephine not keen on jo/josie so have discounted it as a first name it's still in the mix as a mn
we can't use bronwen dh had scout leader who made his time at scouts a nightmare . so he's vetoed it understandbly .
i really like Angharad for it's meaning but as we're in Scotland i think pronunciation might be a problem
With Merewen we were thinking Merry or Winnie as a nn ..I'm obviously overthinking the heroin/heroine and i do think it's pretty .
I keep trying to imaggine using the name Winifred and it doesn't work . I really cab't imagine saying "Winifred mummy loves you " etc. It also feels quite clunky almost ugly compared to Arabella which is femininine yet feisty .I don't want this baby to feel she got short changed .
I adore the name Cecilia but may have to persuade dh.

The name Priscilla popped in to my hed during the night which has a similar feel to Clarissa and Miranda . What do people think of it .

My favourites are Miranda and Merewen. Both very elegant and pretty.

I agree with your thoughts on Winifred - Winnie Westw**d sounds too much like a provinical weather girl or an instruction to a horse.

Love Merewen. Don't like Hester with your surname or Winifred at all.

I am liking Merle at the moment, it's on my shortlist for my contraception failure fantasy third baby.

I love Cecelia and it gets shortened to CeeCee which I also think is really nice. Merewen is lovely as is Angharad or even Cariad (which I'm sad we didn't use as a middle name).

Love Hester but agree it might be too rhyming with your surname to work really well.

Also love Mirabel but can see potential for problems down the line if she and Arabella both want to use Belle/Bella/Bel/etc for a nickname. And whilst you might call them Arry and Miri for example, you never know what's going to happen when they get to school and they get other nicknames.

Like the Hebe suggested earlier as well as Merryn, Eliza and Romilly.

Another one I like that should I ever have a little girl (not looking likely now) is Coco, as in Coco Chanel (but most definitely not coco the clown).

Definitely think Miranda and Clarissa are the nicest from your list.

Miranda Westwood sounds like a filmstar somehow - gorgeous.

I like Merewen and wouldn't make a heroin/e association. Would you have Merry for short? Or do you prefer Winnie since you like Winefred?

How about Merryn/Merren?

I love Clarissa and Cecilia (I know one Clarissa who gets called Clarrie).

I like Miranda - it's the name of the girl in the Collector though.
