Millie-Jo???

Does this work?? Also is it bad that my mother Inlaw is called Joanne and her cat is called Millie. I can see past it as I love the name but not sure the family will xx

I am not keen but it is not my baby or my choice.

Choose a name you love.

I know several Lily-Maes, Lili-Sues and other hyphenated names and I am not keen on any of them.

Everyone hates hyphenated names on the Baby Names board, OP. However, you mostly find name-geeka on here; the opinions expressed are generally not representative of most you'll meet IRL.

Or, the opinions expressed are those that should firmly stay in people's heads (I know, if the OP didn't want your opinion, she shouldn't have asked, but do you really have to be so rude?)

Now, my opinion is that Millie-Jo isn't bad. Isn't great, but isn't bad. It has nothing to do with the hyphen, more the combination of Millie with Jo. To be quite honest, it's the Jo bit that I'm not too keen on. Millie is nice, sweet, would serve her well.

But regardless, this is your baby. You won't please everyone, so name your child a name that pleases you Smile

And Josephine is so much more interesting than Joanne.
How about Mireille Josephine with Millie Jo for short?

If you like it go for it. "I" wouldn't use it and would prefer Millicent Joanna. (for me Amelia is just to popular)

But there is nothing wrong with it apart from some people not liking a - in names. Thats their taste clearly not yours so if you like Millie-Jo go for it imo.

Sorry OP but Millie-Jo is awful.
Could you not just stick with Millie? Or Amelia so she has a lovely adult name if she wants to be called that when older.
Millie seems like a name for a child as lovely as it is, I can't imagine a 40 year old Millie.
So I'd go with Amelia personally Smile
Then call her Millie Smile

I think it is quite nice. DS goes to school with a Lily-jo it suits her they are 7 and 8 and she is never just Lily.

I would go with the Amelia Joanne suggestion (first and middle name) and if use the hyphenated thing at home if you really want to.

Millie isn't very grown up for a 35 year old.

I'd feel a bit daft as an adult having to tell people I was called Millie-Jo. It's not very dignified, is it? Amelia Joanna would be nice though, but not hyphenated.

The hyphen is shit. Millie is ok, but it don't like it as a stand alone name. Amelia NN Millie is nice. Mille-Jo is just awful.
