I really like the name Aaron and am glad to know that there are different ways of pronouncing it as I've been seriously told off for not pronouncing
it "right".

That being said, the vast differences in pronunciation has put me off it.

Aaron is most definitely pronounced Air-on (as in aaron copland)

Therefore:
Aaron if you are going to pronounce as above

Arran/ Arun if you are going to pronounce Ah-ron.

I went to school with an Aaron and it was "air-un". There's also Aaron Neville. So in my world, Aaron = "air-un" and Arran and Arun are "a-run".

Well OP you can see it might cause confusion if you choose 'Aaron' spelling. I think the other spelling goes better with the middle name you have chosen, anyway.

surely the person naming the child chooses the pronunciation. I have never met an Aaron with pronunciation Air-on despite your link.

Aaron - ds has a friend with this spelling and it is sounded as Ah-run

That's how the normal British pronunciation goes. I went to school with an Aaron 'air-on'. There was even a rhyme about it, using that pronunciation, which I am not going to quote as it is anti-Semitic.

Maybe 'arrun' pronunciation for this spelling is American?

But how are you pronouncing that? Aaron spelt like that is usually said as 'air-on' - do you want that or 'arrun'?

Aaron if the name from the Bible.

Arran if named after the Scottish island.

Arun if the Hindu name.

I would say Aaron - mostly because it's the traditional spelling (in UK anyway) and people will automatically spell it that way. It gets really irritating to have to keep correcting people...
