Definitely not selling it. Jonny Wikinson is a talented sportsman and pretty enough to look at but OH MY, he's so boring.

John is classic, Jonathan is classic 1980s.

Bowlersarm · 19/02/2014 15:58

Jonathon might be Squoosh

However, Jonathan is a neat and tidy professional who always wears a suit bizarrely. His wife will be called Pippa or possibly Helen or Emma.

The cooler version, Johnny, is rather like Jonny Wilkinson. Confident and handsome.

squoosh · 19/02/2014 10:34

Jonathon is a 1980's estate agent who is married to Dawn.

caramelwaffle · 19/02/2014 04:14

It's a nickname.

meditrina · 19/02/2014 04:14

Condom.

GreenSpaghetti · 19/02/2014 04:10

Its one of those names I love for specific reasons, mostly The Outsiders and Mr Cash. But I know the condom connotation would always concern me slightly and would mean DH would say no.

But, once DS is here and it becomes who he is I suspect all less favourable connotations would fade away

Pinkandwhite · 18/02/2014 18:38

It's an awesome name. I know a very cool Johnny though so I'm sure I'm influenced in part by that. I also really like Jonathan and John. Jonathan is a good, strong, employable name (I never care whether a name sounds 'employable' but my husband always thinks of this...) and Johnny is a very cool nn.

ToffeeJungle · 18/02/2014 18:29

I don't like it though you obviously do so that's what matters.

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2014 18:14

I like Jonathan! John is fine, but maybe a bit plain and short?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 18/02/2014 14:00

If our baby is a boy he'll be Jonny, hadn't thought about those other famous Johnnies above, our inspiration initially was Jonny Wilkinson!

MauriceMinor · 18/02/2014 13:44

Love it. I know an adorable toddler called Johnny! Uncommon without being weird.

Definitely use John though. Jonathan is a ridiculous name. Like Susanathon or Charlottathon. Just unnecessary.

CurlyKiwiControl · 18/02/2014 13:13

Boden good? Boden bad?

Brilliant to hear of these cool j's ...

A Johnnie proposed to me once. He was lovely. I like it a lot.

cowsarescary · 18/02/2014 13:04

Boden

UriGeller · 18/02/2014 13:03

Very cool. Very. I know two Jonnies. One is an artist. The other is a gorgeous, blond haired surfer dude.

Sundaedelight · 18/02/2014 12:59

Love the name Johnny.

CurlyKiwiControl · 18/02/2014 12:46

Ragwort · 18/02/2014 12:39

Yes, I like it Smile

Bowlersarm · 18/02/2014 12:38

Is that your way of saying it would be a stand alone name......Smile.

It sounds incomplete if that's it in it's entirety. Definitely a nickname sort of name.

I know of a few young Johnnys - toddler through to teens. It's nice. Sporty and cool.

squoosh · 18/02/2014 12:38

Jonathan is vile though. Nothing wrong with John.

CurlyKiwiControl · 18/02/2014 12:37

I agree squooch, it's pretty cool me thinks
