Jimmy.....first impressions?

Hello

DH and are are really struggling on boys names.

We seem to be getting somewhere with:
Jimmy Logan
Jimmy Jensen

What are your initial thoughts on Jimmy? What type of person do you picture?

I'm keen on Jensen as then there is always the option of JJ if I can convince DH to let me use that in the next few months!
(DH is very traditional - so extremely likely birth certificate would be James. I'm aware of many peoples extreme dislike for predetermined nicknames - but ideally I don't want to get into that debate now! Smile)

In case it helps:
DH loves traditional boring names. Not at all worried about popularity.
I love surnamey names/less popular names.

This doesn't suit either of our criteria but is starting to look like the beginning of a compromise! Grin

Made me think of Jimmy Corkhill too Grin Not a great association tbh. Doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

James is great.

Where I live Jimmy is seen as a bit of a 'pikey name' (not my opinion, but that's the exact wording used so people please don't take offence, it's not my words! Blush )

Would also probably make the Saville association.

Like the idea of James nickname Jimi though that someone else suggested, go for Hendrix over Saville every time Grin

I like it but only as a nn of James. James is a far superior name & then at least your son can choose if he's a James, Jim, Jimmy etc.
I know a few James' and they all hate to be called Jimmy.

I love it. I quite want a Jimmy (James) for any future DSs, though I don't think I can as a close friend has a DS with that name and the same surname.

I wouldn't associate saville though.

James is a great name though.

Not a fan of either of your MNs (sorry)

James is a lovely name, as is Jamie - but Jimmy is a defintie no no for me.

Jimmy Logan sounds like singer from an old night club act.
James is so much nicer, how about James Lorcan?
I like Jensen, but think it will date quickly.

I love it.

Saville reminds me of Jimmy Saville but Jimmy doesn't. Jimmy reminds me of a handsome 1950's teddy boy.

Also, one of my favourite childhood books was Jimmy by Richmal Crompton.

It's gorgeous.

We have a similar traditional name for our son and I love the nickname roe it. Though we use the full name and will leave him and his friends decide (sometimes when I am talking to him I use his nickname and like jimmy it is so cute )

I really don't like it.

My first thought was Saville.

Second thought was the slang for wee.

James is really nice though. I quite like JJ as well.
