Thoughts on Regan?

Pronounced Rae-gan. It's Irish apparently. I like it but I'm scared it'll sound American or chavvy (or both).
I want a strong name if I have a girl, nothing girly. Suggestions welcome!

Chavvy for a boy and disastrous for a girl - have you seen the Exorcist? Regan is the name of the girl who is possessed by Satan. Oh and also the name of one of King Lear's daughters, who forces her own dad out onto the streets and gouges out the Earl of Gloucester's eyes Shock

It does sound American, sort of in a similar vein to Peyton etc.

I do like it, and wouldnt think twice if I heard it used, but I wouldnt use it myself.
