Scottish Girls Names?

We have 3 DC, planning DC4 and we want to use a Scottish name if possible (dh is half scots and the other 3 dc have names from our other mixed nationalities).

For a boy we have pretty much decided on Ruaridh but have no idea for a girl.

our other 3 have 3 syllable names, classic but not very popular (somewhere around 500 on last years name ranks). We have a one syllable surname so need a longer first name to balance.

any suggestions?

love Brodie but DH ths it sounds American!

Freya is lovely, will ask him about that one.

orlea yes its too similar, they would sound like a comedy double act!!

quite like shona too.

What about Mhairi pronounced 'Vah-ree'? Or still too similar to your DD?

this is the problem - and as it is a Scottish surname it is a ridiculous problem to have really!! [longs for a more useful surname]

I like Mhairi but our existing DD has a M name who's nickname sounds similar!

Our surname is a certain type of whiskey with 4 letters of Iona wouldn't work!!

quite like Heather but I tend to shy away from floral types, there are a lot of poppy/daisy/Lillie going on round here!!

Two syllable names - Kirsty/Kirsten, Mhairi/Mhairead, Fiona, Jeanette, Heather.

Good luck with DC4 - (wish I'd been brave enough to have more than 2!)
