What names make you think of a sweet, pretty little Girl ?

Basically that, what girls name would you associate with a sweet, pretty little girly girl???

I think Lucy and Alice but want more please

yep, I know two Charlottes, one I have always known as Charlie, the other is my friend's DD and now being a pre-teen started to prefer being called Charlie!

both are very strong-minded and although can look feminine they are not girlie to me.

All the Lucy's I have known have been horrid spoilt little queen bee madams hence for me Lucy is not a " cute little girls name..

the one Alice I know is lovely but i wouldn't view her girly..

I can't say- they were born and live in another country. I met them only twice in the first 20 years olf their lives.

It depends on personality....that would also be the difference between me and my dsis. Thankfully we both have normal names so we were not influenced. I can't believe someone in this world is called Tutu! Maybe people would think she was named after Desmond (here's hoping....)

A girl in my family has the prettiest name ever. I won't say what it is as people might know her. Suffice to say that you think of a little Tinkerbell-type child when you hear the name. So sweet and feminine and delicate.

Except that she is now a teenager, is gay, and is very, very butch. Which is fine, but the name doesn't suit her or her personality. It just shows that you never know how a child will turn out and you need to bear this in mind when choosing names.

atthestrokeoftwelve. It almost makes you wonder if your niece was reacting to her name! I don't think I could handle a name like that, and being rebellious, would go the opposite direction.

Names do have bearing though.

I described earlier my niece who is a big tattooed lesbian PhD engineer.
A wonderful woman who I admire greatly.

My sister longed for a very girly sweet child and wanted to give her a pretty fluffy name.

My niece is called Tinkerbell which as you can imagine doesn't go down too well on the building sites where she works.

How about Amelia, Sophia, Lisette, Claudine, Polly, Patience (Patch for short - so cool!), Bethany, and my fave at the moment - Seren. Means star I think in welsh, beautiful.

Yoda Shark for a boy, Yoda Yogurt for a girl!Grin

On the theme of names we associate with girlie cuteness etc I chose a name like the ones I suggested that has short versions that can be girlie or strong, worked well for us and DD has ended up with a very strong name.

Mammabear4 totally like lots of the names on your list and agree I do associate them with pretty, feminine names, even though I agree that they are some are just not names that I would use but I certainly wouldn't slag you off for having them on your list, like you say each to there own! I don't expect everyone to like my names but I don't understand why people come on these friends slating the poster for just asking what ithers think

I also am not keen on "strong or unisex names like you but if others love them then good for them I'm pleased they have names they like

No idea why some people bother to post such unhelpful comments, think they need to get a life instead of getting all high and mighty about a thread on a baby names forum... One that they've clearly not even read properly...

In fact the more I think about it the more I think it's the NAME that is pretty and girly, which is probably why a few I've included are in the top 10!
A few of the names I've included are actually in my short list too.

I don't think it's anything to do with a lack of feminism that some people would like their daughters to have "pretty" names, whether they end up being girly or being a tomboy at the end of the day names are personal preference - I personally am not keen on "strong" names or "unisex" names such as Samantha, Danielle, Roberta etc, but who am I to say it's wrong for others to like them?

People are entitled to their opinions but it seems to me that a lot of posters on here are more preoccupied with slagging off other people's choices and telling them they're wrong. If you're one of those people please stop wasting the time of those who come on here looking for advice and/or a good discussion. Nothing wrong with saying "I personally am not keen but if you like it...!"
