Which spelling do you prefer? I like both and Kitty as a nn.
Please note Im not expecting just very broody .
Also if you think either would go better with Georgia my dd's name

I'm a Catherine but only called it officially. Have always been Katie although this does pose a few problems when I have cheques made out to Mrs K napoleonsnose instead of Mrs C. I prefer Catherine over Katherine as I was often abbreviated to Cathy at school which I loathed.

How can a letter look smug? Anne Shirley was a bit of a fruit loop, anyway.

For what it's worth, my friend Catherine now says she wishes it was Katherine, or Katharine. As apparently that's closer to the Greek original. I don't know how you can tell though, given the Greek alphabet is completely different!

All these spellings have a long history in this country, of course. Lovely, classic name.

It's one of the few names where I much prefer the K spelling. It looks nicer and it goes better with the nns. Also disagree with pp who said C was more classic. The original Greek and Latin versions were with a K.

I'm biased but Katherine is way better.

Ive always been known to friends and family as Katie which I also love. My grandma was Catherine but known to all as Kitty

Mostly only family call me Kate, nieces and nephews always write Aunty Cate, my DP calls me Kate also but most my friends use Cath and work etc I'm Catherine, only because at school I was "Catherine" Kate was never given by my mum and she refused for anyone to ever call me Cathy

My friend is Catherine nn Cayth (pron Kayth) which is a pretty and unusual nickname.

I think other is lovely, but agree if you want to call her Kitty as a nn it makes life a lot easier if her name is spelled with a K. Simpler to have name and nn beginning with the same letter.

i'm Katherine, and i'm forever having to specify its with a K
so if that would bother you, then go for Catherine, as people will at least spell it right
