Or

Alexander Lucian?

Was convinced I'd use Alexander nn Lex but it seems too popular

My favorite is Tobias personally, but all really nice choices OP

Between Lucian or Alexander, I like Lucian as the first name.

Thanks Dh has chosen Lucian off my long list & keeps trying it out. I think I'm looking for a little validation posting here.

I don't want a too common name but also not wanting to be too faddy or unusual.

I know a Lucien shortened to Lucy - I wouldn't risk it.

Yama, I love it too but don't want him to have same name as lots of other people.

The royal connection is said to be making it more popular, but 2013 popularity details not available.

I really like all of the names on your list (although I'm a little less keen on Aidan than the others). I love the names Alexander, Sebastian and Tobias. I like Lucien a lot but would also worry about it being shortened to Lucy. I'd use it as a middle name.

Go for the name you love ZenNudist. Honestly, there aren't that many Alexanders about. And there are so many nicknames - Alex, Lex, Lexo, Zander, Xander, Sandy.

Dh also like Alexander. It is one of those names you always shorten. I know lots of older Alexes male & female, no young ones.

I am not so keen on Alexander - too common. But love Aidan. It was on our list as well.

Lucian Tobias is nice. I don't like Alexander much, so would go for that as mn with Lucian as first name.

Lucian! Classic, cool and not overused/trendy.

Alex is ok but a little dull imo and I know lots of girl and boy Alexes.

I wouldn't use Lucian as it would irritate me if other people (eg school teachers) consistently pronounced it a different way (Loo-see-yan vs Loo-shan)

ALexander is fab, but understand your reservations.

Tobias likely to become a Toby, ime, so again decide if you mind that or not (dd2 is 7. all of a sudden, this year, her headteacher has decided to shorten her name, having never done so before. it grates.)

Thanks for comments, think we've still got to go back & forward on this. I hate ds2 (wow, 2!) being called 'baby'!

I actually think Toby suits him but feel sad that of either Alexander or Tobias are long versions no one will ever use. At least Lucian wouldn't be shortened so easily. Then again Lou isn't a great nn, prefer luke.
