Works better on a computer - you can hover over the year and it tells you the exact number of babies named any name.

And yes, babies that are stillborn and not named are registered as 'Baby' - very sad Sad.

Great tool. DS's name was given to 16 babies in his birth year. DDs was a little more popular. Really useful to see trends.

there's 5 babies in 2007 called apple!!

disney - 4 in 2007 and 3 in 2001!

elvis peaked at 27 boys in 2003 Grin

the name baby is growing in popularity 14 boys and 16 girls in 2012 ... surely must be where parents didn't register in time???

now what other random words have been used as names...

DD2's named peaked (so far) at 67 girls in the year she was born. Up from 16 in 1996!

DD1's name has gone up from 199 the year she was born to 297 last year...

That's fascinating. DS's name is fairly common, but we knew that. My name has plummeted, so has my mother's but my grandmother's has gone up (very 'of its time' but now apparently combing 'back in')

I couldn't find one that included Scottish names. But I'm sure plenty of names with a Scottish origin are given to children who are born in England

It is just England and Wales. I'd like to see a Scottish one as we are keen on Scottish names for bump.

With my eldest there were 1145 in 1996 I can't check the year she was born on that as it does not go back far enough but only 12 in 2012.

It really shows fashions, I will try and find one that included 2013 but I'm not sure it will exist as afaik the list does not come out until the summer time the year after so 2012 may be the most current.

Unfortunately it can't the ONS only uses a name in its stats of there are more than 3 in the uk. Any less and due to confidentially they pretend they don't exist

It peaked at 13 in 2008 so I think we're safe. There's an alternative spelling that went up to 32 in 2012.

Ohhh that's good, but how many last year?

Has it done a ruby?

With my youngests 16 was the highest across the whole graph but I'm still fretting about it doing a ruby.
