What do you think of this name?

I love the name Walter
It reminds me of a smart dressed English gentleman and I love it.

I am banned from using this name and don't think I would anyway as it's a bit odd but I just wondered if others got the same image from the name?

Sorry, reminds me of an individual I once knew middle-aged man with Down Syndrome who was nearly ALWAYS in his words "horny" and had been goaded/groomed into being inappropriate to women by his previous "carer".

Same as SJ, it immediately makes me think of the character from Breaking Bad.

Although if I imagine an English child with it, I find it kind of poncey.

It's very weedy and limp, but then Wilfred is really popular so what do I know!

You are asking what peoples' previous associations of the name Walter are. As there aren't many little Walters, most of us will think of those Walters we do know, Beano, Walt Disney etc.

However, once we meet your son Walter (assuming you name him Walter), our associations will change and we will associate Walter with your lovely ds!

I know a youngish American one of these, known as Wally; after the first blink of surprise, it's just his name, but might be harder to carry off if you're in the UK.

Seems a narrow hook to hang his name on. You going to wait around for him to fit the middle aged, middle englander linen suit and straw fedora you've already picked out for him? He'll be in his 60's and you won't likely be still around.

I like it and would consider using it if I have a DS in the future. And I'm a massive Breaking Bad fan, so make of that what you will. Its not very popular currently which I see as a good thing.

UriGeller- that was just the image that springs to mind. I am not deciding a child's life path based on a name, what an odd thing to say!
