Hi there

I have posted before but only have 2 weeks to go and our 'shortlist' seems to be getting longer not shorter. I am struggling to get clarity over which names are lovely and which names aren't quite so lovely (but are still lovely)!

So, the list is as follows:

  • Evelyn (pronounced Ev-lin)
  • Tessa
  • Anya (anne-ya)
  • Thea (thee-ah)
  • Esme (es-may)
  • Natasha
  • Elyn (a new one I came across the other day and thought it looked nice!)

Big brother has an Old Testament name and we have an 'exotic' sounding surname.

Thanks in advance! x

Anya, Thea or Natasha.
Elyn is nice but likely to be misheard as Helen with a dropped h or Ellen.

I love Anya... Beautiful name!

notes for future imaginary DD3!

Anya, head and shoulders above the rest for me. Lovely lovely name.

Thea is short for the female name Theodora, a beautiful name meaning God's gift in Greek. Our son is named Theo. :-)
I love Anya, but this is also the Eastern European in me. Anya hails from Anna/Anastasia.
Tessa is the shortened form of Teresa. Teresa or Terese in Christianity was a saint known as the little flower... one of the loveliest saints and a wonderful name.
So I guess I'd go with those three, but it's a terribly personal choice, isn't it? It's got to go with your surname and you have to like the sound of the name and the meaning behind it.

Thea and Tessa, perhaps Esme but don't like the rest.

i like esme & thea, in that order.
if you go with evelyn, im not sure you will get the pronunciation you want for much of the time...
