Help with name to go with 'unusual' (comedy) surname please!

I've posted before about girls names to go with our unhelpful surname Aldock (see -
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/a1912210-Unhelpful-surname-Chloe-or-Freya-or)
but now I need boys name suggestions please!

Again, we've had to rule quite a few we like out, eg. Jacob (Jaco Baldcock) and Aidan (which I just think doesn't sound right - and as I've said in my previous thread, I don't really like alliteration).

We like Isaac but it just wouldn't work - I's a coldcock or I suck old cock??????!!!

Though we think Zac is a possiblility - Does Zac Aldcock sound ok?

Please can you give us some suggestions (boys or girls) - it's driving me a little crazy!!!!! Thank you!

in my time i have known both a dick head and a dick cockmore. dick cockmore was a challenge; he was a consultant that came in to do work for us; i was managing a reasonably large team snd struggled not to giggle whenever i told them dick cockmore was expected that day ok yes i shamelessly giggled like a tween

i must admit if it were a girl i definitely think fanny adcock is super, as is ophelia.

unfortunately i have no sensible suggestions but you have my sympathy as someone that was pleased to lose a dreadful maiden name.

So that's Marcus and all other M names ruled out! As well as names beginning with B, C, F, G, H.. and I think I've dismissed names beginning with vowels so... boys names beginning with D, J, K, L, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z please!!!!

Thought we made a safe choice and 4 months later this happened. Did take him there and made sure he got his own branded t-shirt and jumper. Beats labeling everything Grin

OP, any chance of a peep at your DH's family tree? Might throw up some good pairings with your surname...

As an aside, DH is adamant he never ever got any stick for his name and can't fathom my concern. What's your DH's thoughts on that??

Well I think they will be teased on the surname alone just don't want to add to that by giving them an unsuitable first name!

I do love Joseph but not keen on Joe or Joey - isn't it inevitable it would get shortened?

Not read the whole thread but Aldcock isn't that bad, I think you just choose a name you like, if someone wants to bully or tease they will do that whatever.

My James is Jamie but we've always called him that. At school he chose to be James and that's all they call him.

It doesn't really flow either. You need a non emphatic syllable between the two emphatic ones.

So Zachary Aldcock flows better than Zac Aldcock iyswim

Don't like Jeremy though agree J names work well.
Do you really think a James or a Joseph would not be shortened?
Still toying with Jamie. Also quite like Jared.
Joel is good but in the family already.
I like Dominic but fear this would get shortened to Dom - dumb old cock.
And Ewan - you and old cock.

Why not James and use the nickname Jamie then. I have a James and he's never Jim (except when I call him jimbobaroony etc) I think it's one of those names you can steer the nickname for
