Just met a little girl and nursery called zooey, not Zoe, Zooey pronounced ZooE what do you think to this name? I quite like it!

I like Zooey. Always thought the actress was zoo-eeee. It's much better than zuey because that looks like a boys spelling to me. My name is spelt annoyingly (Aimee) I like that as soon as I text someone they know it's me straight away but everyone spells it Amiee which frankly pisses me off. It's clearly aim eeeee. My poor unfortunate daughter also has an annoying spelling because my DP (sometimes known as her idiot father) thought I wanted to name her after a Pokemon (eevee) but was clever enough to realise it didn't need 4Es when he got his large tattoo of her name. Therefore, she had to be spelt that way. Again, it sets her apart from all the Evie's out there.

Originally DP wanted Lilla. Said like Lilly with an a but I was so fed up of ppl thinking Lyla and everyone pulling disapproving faces I pushed for Evee.

He gets to name the next one...Confused

The only thing that put me off flora is its what they call the bacteria that grows in your gut :/ im mot a huge fan of fleur, don't know why just not. Thank you for suggestion though

I don't think you can go too outlandish after having had a Tilly. People will think you temporarily took leave of your senses and the poor child will wonder why she got the far-out name and her sister the more normal one. (believe it or not, these things matter to children, dsis and I both grew up in a different country to the one we were born and named in and we constantly fibbed about our names to make them 'fit in')
Now Flora, is lovely. Or what about Fleur?

Tibby2 · 15/01/2014 19:26

Flora may grow on me, theres plenty of time yet! X

The Tilly I know of has a sister Flora.

Bluestocking · 15/01/2014 19:23

Now Flora is really lovely, OP.

Tibby2 · 15/01/2014 19:20

Lyla is beautiful and goes nicely with Tilly (which is also lovely).

HaroldLloyd · 15/01/2014 19:10

Lovely names ken.

HaroldLloyd · 15/01/2014 19:10

Stella? I love that name but DP has a rep for liking a pint and I do not want anyone thinking I named a child after his favourite drink.

Southeastdweller · 15/01/2014 19:09

It's pretentious and may even cause bullying. Zoe is much nicer - classic but a bit unusual and not too common.

HaroldLloyd · 15/01/2014 19:09

My friend is Tess, in school she got called Tess-tube. Grin

MyNameIsKenAdams · 15/01/2014 19:08

Haha and her MN is Alice Grin

MyNameIsKenAdams · 15/01/2014 19:08

I like quirky names. My list (dd is one of these names) is

Liv
Olive
Meg
Vada
Tess

Tibby2 · 15/01/2014 19:05

My best friend is called alice :) i prefer the quirkier (apparantly absurd names) :)

OP posts:
Santasaysno · 15/01/2014 19:04

I think gooey when I look at it

HaroldLloyd · 15/01/2014 19:01

How about Alice.

It's my favourite name today.

HaroldLloyd · 15/01/2014 19:00

I'm not a fan OP I prefer Lyla, as well I think it sounds nicer with Tilly.

Don't take it personally, baby names on mumsnet is worse than the outside if ritzys on a Saturday night.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 15/01/2014 18:58

Tibby dont fret. Theres someone on another board considering Ptolemy.

Seriously.

Tibby2 · 15/01/2014 18:55

Thank you mashup and mynameiskenadams, thats all i expected was 'no i dont like it' or something along those lines if the poster didn't like the name. I know im being over sensitive and ridiculous but ive found this thread really upsetting.

OP posts:
FaerieBells · 15/01/2014 18:51

Pity it's not triplets. You could have Hughie, Dewey and Louie.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 15/01/2014 18:49

Cannot believe that people get this uppity about a name. Come the fuck on, people. By all means say you dont like it or prefer an alternative spellibg but seriously....the vitrol on this thread is shameful.

And compared to some of the clap trap on here, Zooey is positively Biblical.

FaerieBells · 15/01/2014 18:49

Ahem, even though OP responded very negatively to my post, I am glad that she picked up on my Zuey suggestion.

OP, I fully expect you to invite me to be godmother to poor little Baby Zuey.

God knows she'll need someone sane to rely on.
