Are Amelie and Emily too close?
My brother named his little girl Emily and we really like Amelie?
What do you think...

Yes it is fine

Turvytopsy · 13/01/2014 06:06

I think it is absolutely fine. It's not like they are siblings. I love both names. Smile

Yes, there are others. But Amelie is our favourite.
Not sure if it makes any difference, but my brother now lives in Australia. It's not like they would be in the same school. :-)

I think they are too similar really, even Emily and Milly are very alike. Sorry.

tethersend · 13/01/2014 05:29

Way too similar.

Are there no other names you like?

Orange5 · 13/01/2014 05:15

Thanks.
There are a few years, and we were thinking of Milly as a nickname.

Tough one. I love Amelie. Will they be close in age? If there are a few years between, I think you're fine, less confusion. Or if you plan to use a nickname.

If they're very close in age... might be frustrating. I actually have a cousin born eight months after me, same first name. Hmm It was always a source of amusement more than contention. Did bother me a little as a child, but they were identical names, not just similar.
