Baby due in 8 weeks and DH and I unable to agree on a name for either a boy or a girl.
Everything I suggest he shakes his head at and does a resolute 'no.'
He suggested Marlene yesterday. You can imagine.

But I may have stumbled on something. Posy. Which he likes, and I do too. It's so sweet.

But would she have to be Josephine nn Posy? And would we be inflicting a lifetime of Poser/Posy name calling?

We already have a Violet...

I like posy but im not sure as an adult but I think it probably grows with the child I would consider it if I knew I wasn't having a boy

My DD Rosie gets called Rosie Posy or just Posy sometimes :)

Love Posy but wouldn't want her as my doctor/barrister etc so give her an alternative to choose from.

Lovely name but am I the only one to instantly think of The Flumps? Unlikely to be an issue though if you avoid the Over 40s Grin

Oh I adore the name Posy but can't use it as it doesn't go with our surname!

ooh ok thanks all - i thought the twee-ness would put more people off than it has. On to (very) short list it goes!

It's not a nickname. Nicknames are things like 'Spotty' and 'Smelly.'

The thing with a name being sweet is that a name that is cute on a baby is not as cute on a 30 year old.id try and find some alternative name you could shorten to posy

I love Posy, and would just use that, I can't be bothered with the real name/nickname thing.

One of my favourites. I also think a 'P' name with maybe Rose in the middle could work?

Penelope Rose for example - at a stretch you could garner Posy from that? And it wouldn't be so twee with Violet.

Josephine is lovely, I wouldn't use Posy as an actual name (because its a NN and because of violet posy).
