Tibby I really like your version "Dahla" more than "Darla" actually.

picnicbasketcase · 09/01/2014 17:52

I think it depends where you live, Darla pronounced like Dah-la is nice but if you live somewhere where the R would be more pronounced, like Darr-la, it doesn't sound as good in my opinion.

Awh lovely! Good luck in your pregnancy. By 10 weeks I just knew it was another girl! Smile

Tibby2 · 09/01/2014 16:57

That is weird bailey we must have the same taste, we were going to call tilly lola at one point then changed to tilly! Lola would be on our list this time around but since then friends of ours had a baby lola! Felix is our boys name, felix edward x

Dahlia ( day-lia)
Daria
Delilah

Lyra
Lydia

I think I prefer Darla to Lyla. Lyla is a bit overdone and it's the kind of name that celebs who appear in OK magazine would give their child.

MrsT2007 · 09/01/2014 11:38

Darla does remind me of the kid in Finding Nemo that shakes the fish she gets as presents......she was called Dahla/Darla

BaileysOnRocks · 08/01/2014 23:38

Hmm freaky really as I have Matilda (Tilly sometimes!) and a Lola.

Matilda was Luna at first and If she was a boy she would have been Jesse or Felix! We must have the same taste Tibby Smile.

Yes! We ummed and ahhed for ages then didn't name DS till he was a week old, DD though we knew as they pulled her out and showed us it was a girl what her name would be Grin do you have a boys name?

Tibby2 · 08/01/2014 23:28

Ha ages! Only 10 weeks gone! Its just while I've been trying to suppress my excitement and massive urges to buy every cute unisex thing i see until at least after the first scan its names that occupy my mind. You can never be too prepared right???? :)

Thanks theonlyoneiknow we will ultimately obviously go with what we love, many close friends screwed there faces up at the name Tilly but we loved it so thats her name! :)

Like Lyra but not as much as Lyla, really like Lottie and georgie but already taken by close friends ....

Fair enough comment tibby and Bailey, I am sorry, it was a bit off.

Tibby2 · 08/01/2014 22:46

Love luna! Trying to get DH to come round to that one its a brilliant name, quirky but not too weird! Weirdly tabitha keeps coming up as a suggestion whenever i have this conversation not sure about having both girls with same initials??? If baby even is a girl! If its a boy were set on Felix (another cat name!) :)

If you like Lyla what about Lyra ?

I would go for the name YOU prefer, not which one gets the best response on here

lilyaldrin · 08/01/2014 22:44

How about:
Lottie/Lotta
Georgie/Georgia
Rosie/Rosa
Maisy

totallyaimless · 08/01/2014 22:44

Love Dahla and Lyla, lovely choices. Luna is cool too, and I also like Lyra, maybe a bit too popular now though?

lilyaldrin · 08/01/2014 22:43

Prefer Lyla (though I think Lila is a nicer spelling!).

Tibby2 · 08/01/2014 22:43

I do like Della but i would really be using it as a substitute for the name Bella which i love but cant separate from Bella swan the twilight character. Hubby likes daisy but i have bad association with the name :(

Tabitha?

secretsofsanta · 08/01/2014 22:41

Lyla is nice. How about Luna?

secretsofsanta · 08/01/2014 22:41

Tilly is fabulous!! I dont like the other name... How about delilah?

Tibby2 · 08/01/2014 22:39

Me and DH are stuck between Darla and Lyla i did a separate post for Lyla and it got a good response as a sibling name for Tilly so am swaying toward Lyla now i think!

I'm not keen on Darla - it sounds very American/darlin' to me Grin (and reminds me of the vampire on Buffy!). I don't think it goes with Tilly either which has more of a cosy, English feel.

How about Daisy? Or Della?

I like Dahlia though, very elegant.
