If we went with Maggie would...

If we went with the name Maggie for a little girl would we spend the rest of our lives hearing about The Simpsons? Me an DH both like it but he already gets quite a bit of stick from my family about watching that show, even though he doesn't really anymore!

What do you all think?

I would call her Margaret and then use the nickname. I like it as it is old fashioned. I don't like Mae as a middle name. It seems like every other baby girl has it as a middle name.

I love the name Maggie but would never use it because of Thatcher.

I wouldn't think of The Simpsons at all.

I thought of Thatcher,too. It is a lovely traditional name with not too much 'baggage' attached to it, though. In another thread there was a suggestion to use the name Margot, with Maggie as the nickname, this way your child can also choose what they want to be called. I don't think associations with 'The Good Life' will be too rife in a few years from now....

Ooooh I hadn't even though of Thatcher! Yikes!!

I still like it though. It's currently top of the list for a girl. But tbh when DS was born we ended up with a name we hadn't even thought about!

I have a Maggie and I just get asked if I like Rod Stewart and if her middle name is May! (It isn't!)

My 2 year old niece is a Maggie. She's absolutely gorgeous and her name really suits her.

Don't think my sister ever really gets Simpson's comments.

It wouldn't make me think of the simpsons at all. It's a great name. I say use it.

I know a Maggie and shes gorgeous and I never think about Simpsons
But Maggie in Simpsons is cute anyway!
I love it - couldn't have it as weird with our surname.
