The worst baby names you have ever heard?

Just starting a list of what not to call my baby. I don't usually make a habit of judging babies by their names but some I've heard recently have been frigging awful! The most recent one being Katara Confused it just reminds me of that phlegm when you've got a cold.

So what would you not name your baby?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Maybe you should hide the topic MrsDeVere.

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 21:01

If you don't want to discuss baby names, you may have wandered into the wrong topic.

Its like people moaning about Christmas being discussed in July, whilst in the Christmas topic.

What do you think happens in this topic if not discussing baby names?

Mrs I have no idea. I honestly don't care.

My sons name is on here but I don't go around telling people what it is on here as I know its not "MN worthy"

Could I give a fuck? I could, but I don't. I'm not forcing people to name their children the same. I don't like names that are loved here but that's fine as I'm not been forced to use them

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 20:58

Its less of an obsession and more of the topic title

Casmama · 08/01/2014 20:57

I did hear of a baby called chlamydia - I don't think it is particularly judgemental to say that sexually transmitted infections are not a great source for names.

ElectricalBanana · 08/01/2014 20:54

I like the name Reg

If I was able to have more babies I would have a Reg (obv a boy)

5HundredUsernamesLater · 08/01/2014 20:52

I agree that choosing names is hard and we shouldn't judge others.
Some people choose well known names that others find common or boring.
Some people choose more unusual names or even make up names just because they like the sound of them or they just like to be different. No matter what kind of name we choose there's always going to be someone who hates it.
Its a personal thing and we should keep negative comments to ourselves but I can't help feeling sorry for the 'James Bond' that was waiting in the same waiting room as us recently. ( sorry if he belonged to anyone here)

Kihanna - its not even a name. Just a sound. An ugly sound at best.

Not helped by her siblings being called equally awful names also beginning with K.

What is the obession with matching initals?

What is the obession with the letter K?

hootloop · 08/01/2014 20:46

I call my son Jeepster. It isn't his real name it is a pet name but I use it in public.
I also now a little boy called Frank he has a brother called Stan, I think they are are lovely names.

Primadonnagirl · 08/01/2014 20:42

But threads about lovely baby names are Ok? Don't understand why you are getting flamed OP ...each to their own...just cos you think the names awful doesn't mean you think the baby is awful....also people if you get upset about complete strangers views on your baby's name..DON'T PUT IT ON A PUBLIC WEBSITE!

Newjobthankgod · 08/01/2014 20:37

@ Freyathecatt

Frank is an awesome name. Screw the haters.

Newjobthankgod · 08/01/2014 20:36

Khaleesi (game of thrones). A coworker recently named her baby this.

I met a 2 week old Bruce recently. He is fostered. I think the druggie real mum named him. Poor Bruce barely wakes up and I asked his foster mum why he is so lethargic and she told me that he is still full of benzos, opiates, crack and whatever else mum was doing while pregnant.

legoplayingmumsunite · 08/01/2014 20:33

Lego, is it one L instead of 2? DD1 has the same issue. Ours begins with a g. How about yours?

No, it has an F instead of a PH. Just thought, SIL must have the same problem with her lovely MN approved name that has the Spanish one c instead of the English two.

I saw one of these threads slagging off a baby with the (OP thought misspelt) name of an element, except of course it is a perfectly normal Eastern European name.

There is a reason for these threads of course, the reason we all worry so much about choosing the perfect name is because we do all judge people on the names they choose, even if we'd never admit it and we don't want people to judge our children negatively because of their name.

Beeyump · 08/01/2014 16:33

There's an actress called Tuppence Middleton. It can be done!

stilllearnin · 08/01/2014 16:21

I am liking the 'I liked it so I called my child by this name' - that's how it should be! I think baby naming is hard and a bit surreal (somehow its all a bit too soon when they're newborn). I wanted to wait a good few years- I got my wish as my daughter changed her own name when she was 6!

I like tuppence too- its in a great song 'sing for me tuppence' anyone know where the name's from?

curiousgeorgie · 08/01/2014 16:10

Most people (including my parents!) think my DD2's name is the worst they've heard Wink

I'm just waiting for someone to say it....

(I absolutely love it though, so I named her it anyway Grin)

AryaofhouseSnark · 08/01/2014 15:22

One of my dts has a boring name, the other one has a dogs name. Grin luckily I don't know anyone in rl who is that cunty about other people's names.

Beeyump · 08/01/2014 14:49

Hardrockhallelujah I actually like Tuppence! Blush

Theonlyoneiknow · 08/01/2014 14:39

tantrums i am just waiting for someone to mention my DS name, which is definitely not well thought of on here !

SPsFifthConyoIsTheBestConyo · 08/01/2014 13:27

Well my sons name has been mentioned.

Nothing terrible about it, its a name but its not "MN worthy"

Fuck it.

If that's the worse name you have come across then you are sheltered.
