I hate it. I think I'd actually be put off an adult man in a bar if he used that name to introduce himself to me.

Lighthousekeeping · 09/01/2014 17:40

What's it short for? I like it but I'm sure Sonny in The Godfather was called something else.

LondonNinja · 09/01/2014 17:38

Sonny is awful.

Bowlersarm · 09/01/2014 17:36

I like Joey and Jack. Not a Frankie fan.

bridgetsmum · 09/01/2014 11:03

Hate it!! Stupid name, in fact it's not really a proper name, it's a nn.

Joey is ok, but again I wouldn't use it except as a nn for Joseph.
Jack is ok but a bit blah!

Frankie is ok for a child, but again I would only use it as a nn for Frank or Francis

Dixy30 · 09/01/2014 10:59

Stupid name
Be ridiculous on a 6'4 man with hair hands etc
A bit like the name Jamie in the 90s - still sounds silly on an adult man

Womnaleplus · 09/01/2014 09:42

Frankie is awesome.

Also have Manny, Joel, Linus and Murray on my theoretical boys' list.

bLooming2 · 09/01/2014 09:10

also considering
joey
jack
frank(ie)
xx

I don't like it but mostly because it rhymes on my own name and I hate my name.

NadiaWadia · 08/01/2014 17:29

It's not a real name. Please don't.

ElkTheory · 08/01/2014 17:05

I don't care for it as a given name, but I think it's quite a sweet nickname for a little boy.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 08/01/2014 14:51

I love it, ds3 was going to be called sonny but dfil died so hes named after him. Was going to use it with ds5 but dps cousin had a baby 2 weeks before us and named him sonny. (After dps grandad)

absentmindeddooooodles · 08/01/2014 14:45

Louie, sonny and jesse were top of my list. Good choices. ( we ended up with a jude)

Love the name sonny.

I know a very lovely, handsome man named sonny. He is a proffessional and high up in his field. Hes never had an issue with his name. Quite the opposite!

Bowlersarm · 08/01/2014 14:39

Louie is so lovely.

And Sonny is so.....not.

What else are you considering OP?

bLooming2 · 08/01/2014 13:27

-ee ending not --we ending

Womnaleplus · 07/01/2014 22:17

I like it, but then I also like Rudy, Louis and Jesse.

I like the -we ending for a boy's name. It sounds gentle and slightly old-fashioned and pleasant. I know these are fairly unfashionable criteria!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 07/01/2014 22:16

Makes me think "and Cher"

ilovesmurfs · 07/01/2014 22:13

I like it, it was on our name lsit, I know two little sonnys and I know an adult called sonny, he seems happy with his name and its not caused him amy problems.

Dont get the hatred for it on mnet.

YourMotherChucksRocksInHull · 07/01/2014 22:12

I like it but would never use it.

I guess it's a cheerful, quirky name - would def use it for a dog Grin

SoftSheen · 07/01/2014 22:11

Absolutely dreadful.

Mrscupcake23 · 07/01/2014 22:06

Well I can't imagine a miserable child called sonny I love it.
