We have managed to get a couple of shortlists together but once we add middle names to the mix there is still a lot to decide! Any thoughts?

Boys first names.
Isaac (we are ok with potential Zac nickname in future)
Jonah, surprise front runner this week (I like the dove meaning but also associated with bad luck however if you read the story this is silly!)
Noah (like the way this sounds with current dc names)

Boys middle (first 3 all have family connections)
James
Owen
Louis
Jacob

Girls first names.
Alexandra (not keen on Lexie but like Alex and Sasha as possible nn.Also fits with current dc names)
Robyn (but ds has best, best friend Robin)
Rowan
Elsa (maybe less keen?)

Girls middle, again top 3 have family links

Olivia
Elizabeth
Louisa
Hope

Obviously the middle name choice depends on the first, I wouldn't have Jonah James for example.

I absolutely love Jonah, what a gorgeous name. The only middle name that really goes with it is Owen though, to avoid the alliteration and Stop The Cavalry connotations

Alexandra Elizabeth is my favourite of your girl's names

Good luck! Thanks

Dh suggests we could pronounce it Lewis to prevent the Stop the calvary issue that I was unaware of!

I am biased as I have a baby Isaac. He is Isaac David but I think Isaac James/Jacob sound lovely.

Love Alexandra on your girls list. All middle names sound nice with it.

Haylebop12 · 30/12/2013 22:47

I think of your going to pronounce it Lewis then it may be wise to spell it that way. He may be forever correcting people.

Puddles1234 · 30/12/2013 23:30

What about Louis as a first name? Or is your heart set on the three you have stated above? What about Alexander for a boy? Alexander Louis is lovely.

For the girls what about Alexandrina?

Out of the names you have listed I would pick Alexandra Elizabeth.

fruitpastille · 30/12/2013 23:34

I know what you mean. I prefer the sound loo ee better tbh, is the cavalry thing such an issue?? Maybe we just need a different middle name if we pick Jonah, but I would like s family link however tenuous and there aren't many options that we both like. I have always loved Isaac but it is more popular and doesn't trip off the tongue as easily?

I don't like Louis enough for a first name, it's only there for dhs grandma really. Dh has taught too many annoying boy Alexes!

I'm expecting a girl but Noah and Isaac would have been two of my frontrunners for a boy.
I love Isaac James and Noah Jacob
Jonah is much more unusual and pretty cool. How about Jonah Isaac? Or Isaac Jonah.

I like Robyn and Alexandra best from your girl choices (don't think it matters about your son's friend Robin really).
Alexandra Elizabeth and Robyn Olivia sound lovely. Rowan Elizabeth also works well. Robyn Alexandra is beautiful.

sleepingbeautiful · 31/12/2013 07:07

I really like all your choices except Noah. There's just something about it. Also starts with No and you'll already spend enough time saying that ;)

Favourites:
Isaac James or Isaac Louis
Robyn Olivia

RalphRecklessCardew · 31/12/2013 09:06

Jonah is the the worst name ever. Nigel would be an improvement. Others are fine.

fruitpastille · 31/12/2013 09:11

Tbh I have gone off Noah a bit. I think I prefer Isaac and dh prefers Jonah. They are nice together but then we don't have a family linked name.

Ds and friend Robin really are inseparable and we are friends as parents too. Have even camped together. Might run it past the mum as I do really like it at the mo. Alex has been on our girls list since before we even conceived ds1 though! And dh loves Rowan. So indecisive...

Really, nigel? Curious as to why it provokes such a reaction.

Out of your list I'd go with Isaac James or Isaac Louis and Robyn Elizabeth or Robyn Olivia for a girl x
