Help me name DC3 - mixed race

orangestripe · 29/12/2013 22:27

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with DC3. This will be a girl, we have 2 boys already. DH is British Indian, I am White British (or whatever you call it).

Our 2 DSs have Indian first names with Classic English Middle names.

Struggling to find a girl's name that we both like. Started off looking at Indian names but are now just looking at everything since it's getting closer to needing a name.

Any inspiration greatly appreciated!

There are lots of names coming up on here that I haven't seen before, so thank you.

Ones I like best so far on here:

Sarita
Saffron
Rania

Some I love but can't use for family reasons (some don't "go" with our surname and some are being used already by DH's cousins for their children).

Thanks again and please do keep em coming if you think of more.

I know a little girl with the same mix called...Kavita

I love Sarita too - it's my sister's name! Really pretty, easy to pronounce but a bit different.

My DD Indian friends all have english names? And my Asian friends children have names which sound very English but look Indian when written down, if that makes any sense.

Crazyhamsterseesyou · 30/12/2013 01:23

I love the name Ruksana very pretty name & Nadia is a well known Indian/English name as well

ShrekTheHalls · 30/12/2013 01:22

have friends with Indian/English mixed race families - their dds are Zhara, Keira and Aysha.

NadiaWadia · 30/12/2013 01:20

Nisha is lovely too.

PrincessFlirtyPants · 30/12/2013 01:20

I know a beautiful little girl called Maya. Her dad is Indian and her mum is British. It's a lovely name.

NadiaWadia · 30/12/2013 01:19

A few girls that DD knows who come from Indian families are named Nikita. Which sounds nice, but to me it is a Russian boys' name (eg Nikita Kruschev (sp?)

Leeds2 · 30/12/2013 01:17

I know a British Indian called Anjali too (aged 11). i THINK IT IS LOVELY.

NadiaWadia · 30/12/2013 01:17

Maya is lovely and exists as a name both in Indian and Western Culture. So is Nina and Sarita (and Nadia I think!)

Some lovely ideas here, thank you all. Let me know any more that you like the sound of.

Ray I've trawled a million websites looking for names but nothing jumps out at me. I thought personal recommendations might help to narrow things down rather than looking at list after list after list.
