Hi all,

What are your first thoughts when you see the name Cerys?

Also, how would you pronounce this name?

Thanks! :)

I love it but am bias!

We pronounce it Kerris, dont live in Wales or have Welsh connections (except for my name also being Welsh).

I swithered for a while on Cerys v Carys but preferred Cerys.

It's lovely (prn Kerris) but prefer Carys.

I love the name Cerys. Also like Celyn Kel-lyn (it means Holly in Welsh).

CZJ daughter is Carys Broken I prefer that to Cerys I think. Although I love Ceirios (means cherry in welsh).

It's a pretty name.....many of our welsh ones are. I love Elerri.

Frikadellen · 27/12/2013 17:59

A friend who is lovely so makes me smile.

Pronounce it Kerris

Confitdecanard · 27/12/2013 17:53

I like it. I would probably think you had welsh connections but I don't think you need them to use the name. I would pronounce it Ke - riss. I think it is fairly well known amongst English speakers, helped by Cerys Matthews of Catatonja fame, so I don't think too many people would struggle with pronunciation.

BunnyLebowski · 27/12/2013 17:46

First thought: her off Catatonia

It's pronounced Ker-iss isn't it?

I think it's a tad harsh. Carys sounds nicer. Fine if you're Welsh.
