Tabitha or Alice?

DC2 is due in February and while we're still working on boys names we've narrowed the girls names down to these two. I love them both but can't make up my mind. I need to take a straw poll - thanks in advance!

Absolutely go with your heart.

Tabitha Alice works really well.

I listened to family for DD2 and wish I'd gone with my heart and had her names the other way round.

sandfrog · 07/12/2013 20:39

Well if your heart is with Tabitha then that's the one! Tabitha Alice goes very nicely together.

PassthePercyPigs · 07/12/2013 19:44

Thanks for all your replies ladies - definitely looks like Alice is the favourite here but I think my heart is with Tabitha - perhaps Alice would work as a middle name?

Tabitha. Beautiful, distinctive name.

sandfrog · 07/12/2013 17:54

I think Tabith is a cat's name too, sorry! Fine if you like cats I guess.

NoComet · 07/12/2013 17:51

Alice, I'm another one who sees a tabby cat first.

Sorry, Dita, I've never met a Tabitha in real life.

I can think of two Alice's, both beautiful and not in the least bland.

PolkaDotParty · 07/12/2013 17:50

Both lovely names. I err slightly to Alice as I have a great grandmother who was called Alice, but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/12/2013 17:49

Alice. Everyone comments on how pretty it is. Tabitha is a cat's name and too lispy.

sandfrog · 07/12/2013 17:45

Alice, definitely.

BrokenFairylights · 07/12/2013 17:27

Personally I prefer Tabitha, I grew up in the 70's and remember bewitched Tabitha was Samantha's daughter and I loved that programme Grin

FetaCheeny · 07/12/2013 17:27

Tabitha, Alice is bit dull.

ditavonteesed · 07/12/2013 17:26

Tabitha is beautiful (I would say that I have one) she is Tabi for short.

FetaCheeny · 07/12/2013 17:25

Tabitha!

pookypup · 07/12/2013 17:25

Alice - beautiful

hedgehogy · 07/12/2013 17:22

Alice.

FobblyWoof · 07/12/2013 17:19

Completely biased- but I'm also for Alice Smile

SS3J · 07/12/2013 17:15

Alice gets my vote!

JRmumma · 06/12/2013 20:57

Tabitha would be tabby for short and i personally don't like that. Alice is lovely though.

out2lunch · 06/12/2013 20:56

alice

Tabitha always seems v cat like to me

LynetteScavo · 06/12/2013 20:55

Alice, - it's a lovely, lovely name.

There was a reason DD couldn't be called Alice. Sad

Madamecastafiore · 06/12/2013 20:54

I have a 3 week old Alice. Have had nothing but compliments as to what a pretty name it is.

So please call your child Tabitha Wink!!

HoneyandRum · 06/12/2013 20:52

Tabitha please. Alice is just so blah.

AHardDaysWrite · 06/12/2013 20:43

Both lovely - Alice is the safer option if that helps. Depends on your surname - Alice can slur into other words because of how it sounds - eg "Alice Murphy" could sound like "Smurphy". (Sorry if I'm overthinking this, but I wanted Alice but had to rule it out as I have a surname it doesn't match with!)

FrameyMcFrame · 06/12/2013 20:41

Alice!!!
My DD's name :)

Varya · 06/12/2013 20:40

Tabitha every time!
