Middle name to go with Autumn?

Hello fellow Mumsnetters...
So, we have found out we are having a little girly.
I love the name Autumn, my husband likes it too, but is reluctant as you cant shorten it. We are thinking of a middle name so we can shorten her name to AJ ( eg if she was called Autumn Jessica)
I originally wanted Autumn Saffron, but this would make her initials ASS as my surname starts with S.
So, can anyone come up with some nice middle names? Or ideas for shortening Autumn. To be honest I don't thinks its a big deal to not be able to shorten it, but its important to my husband.

Autumn is lovely! And I would happily use any of these as a nn for Autumn - Tikky, Tizzy, Tootie, Tansy, Taisy, Tiggy, Tommi, Matty, Mimi, or the like. But then I have a broad view of nicknames. I think any of these would be much better than the AJ type of nickname.

TatianaLarina · 07/06/2019 08:48

AJ is two syllables same as Autumn so I don’t see how that’s a shortening?

SnowdropFox · 07/06/2019 08:22

I'm with you on the nn front op. I can imagine if we had a wee autumn we'd end up calling her Rusty or something similar! It's also a shame to nn such a beautiful name in the first place!

Imo a middle name with the letters
D (Addy)
G (Aggy)
J (AJ)
L (Ally) may get lost with other Alison's.
N (Annie) as above

AJ would be my preference so Autumn:
Julia or Juliet (latin: shiny, sky)
Jemma (precious gemstone or jewel)
Or a plant based one like Jacy or Juniper.

I like those because they conjour up a pretty image with Autumn.

Her surname begins with an S so if she was an Autumn Rose or Autumn Rachel her initials would spell ARS... Not ideal!

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 07/06/2019 07:57

Autumn is lovely. Why's he so keen to shorten a name just for the sake of it? There's no need to shorten any two syllable name. I hate initial nicknames (A.J or J.J or any of these) and think it would really spoil a lovely name

Penny4Thoughts · 07/06/2019 07:29

Autumn Naomi = Amy
Autumn Delilah = Aula
Autumn Lily = Ally

London, love your suggestions of Autumn Delilah or Autumn Genevieve! Op, go with one of those Grin

LondonInTinselBoots · 01/12/2013 21:17

I'd shorten Autumn to Tomi or Oz (but I like quite masculine names for girls anyway).

Autumn Xanthe (Ax is a pretty cool nn imo)
Autumn Claudia, Clover, Cassia (Ace)
Autumn Delilah, Diane (Adie - Like Edie but an A)
Autumn Genevieve (Aggie)

I think Elizabeth and Elise are lovely

OneMoreThenNoMore · 01/12/2013 21:08

I call my pets all sorts of names other than their actual name, so I see where you're coming from, but I call my dc by their proper names all the time. Don't know why! Confused So although you may give your pets nicknames you might be odd like me when it come to your dc... Grin

busylizzie76 · 01/12/2013 21:01

Autumn....Faye
Autumn....Elise
Autumn....lily/rose
Autumn....grace/hope/faith
Autumn....belle

Bowlersarm · 01/12/2013 20:49

I can't think of a good shortening for Autumn. Autie or Tum not great. Why don't you go with Jessica then? AJ initials are as good as any other combination.
