If someone used your child's very unique middle name as a first name for their child who was only a few weeks apart in age?

With lots of friends and family in common.

We also used a very unique first name... It wasn't about nerve. It was just that I chose one and DH chose one and we just put them together.

I think I'm going to out myself if I say the name Wink

We need to know the name

Maybe they hadnt thought about it til you said it and realised it was the perfect name for them? Id be more likely to use a MN of a friends dc than their first name.

Wpuld have been nice if they mentioned in advance tho.

Similarly, they might start a thread "AIBU to be annoyed at friend who has stolen pur unique name to give as a middle name?"

picnicbasketcase · 29/11/2013 12:17

I'd be bloody annoyed. I really want to know the name now.

ToffeeJungle · 29/11/2013 12:15

Yes I think it would be slightly annoying - though there is not really much you can do (apart from change your DC's middle name?!) and as said above, see it as a compliment - you obviously have good taste! Smile

No, but if I used the unique name as a second name because I didn't have the nerve to use it as a first name, I'd be raging at myself not the other people.

Rhubarbgarden · 29/11/2013 11:19

It would be slightly irritating, yes. Though they do say that copying is the highest form of flattery Hmm
