Parker

I've said for years if I ever have a son I'm going to name him Parker and now I am expecting a boy, I would still really like to name him Parker but am very wary of it now Frankie Sandford has named her baby Parker. I like the fact that it's not really a popular name but am worrying now that it may suddenly shoot up in popularity. DH says I'm worrying over nothing and he's still set on the name.

What middle names do you think would go with it? I like Parker James, DH likes Parker Joe.

I quite like Parker. It's one of my secret guilty pleasures.

I like James as a middle name too.

runs away and hides

Good. I really wouldn't worry about the Thunderbitds association, it won't mean anything to him and his peers and they will just look blankly at any old codger that mentions it. I have a Dylan and lots of older relatives said ooh everyone will think of the druggie rabbit from magic roundabout. Nobody much younger than me has a clue and it has now become a popular and acceptable name.

Go with Parker!

justhayley · 24/11/2013 20:02

I love it, not with Joe def better with James

sleepingbeautiful · 24/11/2013 17:18

Parker - wrinkly Thunderbird chauffeur
James - also has chauffer connotations "Home, James".

I dislike Parker and like James, but regardless of likes and dislikes I wouldn't pair them up due to hired driver references

CogsworthAndJerry · 24/11/2013 16:41

I should also add that whilst I like the name Finley, I don't think I could use it. It's getting too popular for my liking, plus my nephew is named Finley and I don't think I could get away with that.

So I guess it's between Parker, Grayson and Lachlan now.

Is it bad that none of these things are actually putting me off the name?

I have a nephew named Parker. He has a very traditional middle name and the whole name flows nicely.

Rhubarbgarden · 24/11/2013 07:47

I thought it was a girls name too.

FigEater · 24/11/2013 06:41

Parking mad

HoneyandRum · 24/11/2013 06:10

I had neighbours in the USA whose eldest was Parker. He was a lovely boy, I have to say that the name does not have much personality for me - it sounds a bit boring. I don't think Parker was the best choice for the boy I knew either because he was quite deep and reflective but Parker sounds more superficial somehow.

cherryflip · 23/11/2013 14:57

Its my dogs name and everyone thinks we are thunderbirds fans, when really it was the name the bluecross gave him. Cute on a dog gotta be cuter on a little baby :-)

tracypenisbeaker · 23/11/2013 14:51

Also, the Park(er) Christmas catalogue association is the very last straw.

Soz.

IslaValargeone · 23/11/2013 14:48

I love it and have no idea who The Saturdays are.
Love Grayson too.

Bohemond · 23/11/2013 14:42

I thought it was a girl's name! As in Parker Posey.
You learn something every day on mn.

MamaLazarou · 23/11/2013 14:31

Thunderbirds here, too, sorry.

'Parker'

'Yes... Milady'

CogsworthAndJerry · 22/11/2013 21:26

I have never heard of Frankie Sanford or the Saturdays. Can't be all that famous?

They aren't really that famous, so I suppose I am worrying over nothing.

I think I am going to stick with Parker since I've liked it for years. It's also the only name DH and I can really agree on.

And no, neither of our surnames is Barker Grin

Cohenite · 22/11/2013 20:28

My immediate reaction was Nosy - word association, I'm afraid.

meditrina · 22/11/2013 20:24

This is Parker from the Thunderbirds. As it's a geek/nerd classic, the association isn't going to go away.

mrsminiverscharlady · 22/11/2013 20:24

If your last name is Barker then definitely not...

Ehhn · 22/11/2013 20:21

My surname is parker...
