My gawd I am becoming a baby name obsessive!

Love the nn Cece so we are considering Cecilia/Cecelia.

A/what do you think?

B/ How should it be pronounced?

Sa-SEE-lee-ah

Or

Sa-seel-yah

Seh-SEE-lia

sandfrog · 21/11/2013 10:46

Lovely name, with pronounciation Seh-SEE-li-a, and a nice connection of Patron Saint of music.

GreatJoanUmber · 21/11/2013 09:52

Cecily was on the very top of my girl list! Sadly, DH nixed it. I prefer it to Cecilia as it has got a bit more of an edge and is more elegant, IMO.
Cecilia is lovely too though!

taffleee · 20/11/2013 21:42

solaia I never knew that , lovely x

Solaia · 20/11/2013 21:26

I love this, on my short list. I chose Cecilia as my saint's name when I was being confirmed (RC). She is the patron saint of music.

taffleee · 20/11/2013 20:26

coffee I agree, Cecily lovely if you want to call Cece xx

CoffeeChocolateWine · 20/11/2013 20:20

I love the nn Cece. I do quite like Cecelia but prefer Cecily.

taffleee · 20/11/2013 20:01

Pavlov I've got that song in my head now too lol xx not a bad thing OP x

KateCroydon · 20/11/2013 19:50

Love it. Seh-see-lia in English, Che-chi-lia in Italian.

PavlovtheCat · 20/11/2013 19:43

aw darn, I got that damned song in my head now Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 20/11/2013 19:38

Love it. Thinking about it might prefer Cecile though.

I prefer Cecile, Cecelia to me its what my grannys sisters were called. It's along the same lines as Dymphna, Patricia, Assumpta. I'm not explaining it very well Blush , it's a nun type name.

Ilovexmastime · 20/11/2013 19:13

It's my MIL's name and she hates it! Also, it makes me want to sing the Simon & Garfunkel song too every time I hear it.

meditrina · 20/11/2013 17:59

I think it's a lovely name, and would pronounce the full form ses-SEE-li-ya

Sundaedelight · 20/11/2013 17:56

Beautiful and original.
Know a lovely teenage Cecilia nn cece.

ElizabethBathory · 20/11/2013 16:47

I love it and love Cece too.

Only1scoop · 20/11/2013 16:34

It's my MIL name and wow is she one scary mother Grin

birdybear · 20/11/2013 16:31

love it! you're breaking my heart! love the song too

Mogz · 20/11/2013 16:30

I think it's gorgeous, it's very feminine yet strong.

squoosh · 20/11/2013 16:01

I just want to sing 'Suh-SEEEEEEEEEE-lya, you're breaking my heart' in a really jolly, obnoxious way.

I love Cece but think Cecilia is a very 'virginal, prune faced, maiden aunt' type name.

UriGeller · 20/11/2013 15:50

No, sorry! Its the best name ever and I'm not about to release it to the world!

hulabaloo · 20/11/2013 15:38

I like the sound of it, but the meaning isn't great (caecus = blind in latin). I'd say Seh-SEE-lya.

TheNunsOfGavarone · 20/11/2013 15:31

Lovely name and so is Cecily.

I would pronounce it Ses-see-le-yah.
