TickyTockTock · 19/11/2013 23:22

Yay. Love it.

RedCountryRoads · 19/11/2013 20:42

Yay.
Although...............

I know a Naomi and for pretty much all of her teenage years all the lads called her I-moan and made moany sex noises every time she walked in to the room. Not a good nickname to have, the poor thing, it followed her around for years and it had no basis. She was a very good girl ;)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/11/2013 20:39

Yes. Biased. Lovely name and not v common - and it sounds good AND looks pretty on the page, imvho. :) Mine is Nay-oh-me.

SoulTrain · 19/11/2013 20:23

It's IMOAN backwards..

superlambanana · 19/11/2013 20:22

I wouldn't use it, but the only one I knew was HORRIBLE. I'm sure your dd won't be Smile

downdownupdown · 19/11/2013 20:17

We would pronouce the same as you mrsgrumpy. Do you get a good reaction to it?

OP posts:
mrsgumpy · 19/11/2013 20:12

Sorry, I should have been clearer. By "right way" I meant the way we pronounce it which is Nay-oh-me.

But appreciate that some people say "Ni-oh-me". That is fine too but just not our DD's name.

I also like how versatile it is in another languages. When we go to France or Spain she is called Noemi by the locals. I love that too.

AbiRoad · 19/11/2013 20:10

What is the right way?

mrsgumpy · 19/11/2013 20:07

I love it but it is our DD's name.

We have never had anyone mispronounce it. Not sure I would mind if they did though. They would soon figure out the right way in any event.

hulabaloo · 19/11/2013 14:35

I like Naomi - classic, feminine and not overused!

Ilovexmastime · 19/11/2013 13:27

yay

Layl77 · 19/11/2013 13:25

It's nice, I would always say ni-oh-me (as in Campbell) but know a nay-oh-me they say it like nay-me which annoys me

downdownupdown · 19/11/2013 13:19

So pleased so many of you like it Smile

I am aware some people will say it wrong but then my dd has three letters in her name and people still manage to pronounce it wrong Hmm

mathanxiety · 19/11/2013 06:16

Lovely. A classic that will never be either 'in' or 'out'.

iHateMrTumble · 18/11/2013 23:02

yay

hawkmcqueen · 18/11/2013 20:58

Yay although everyone here says Niomi

CordeliaRose · 18/11/2013 20:16

I love it!
It's unusual - but not 'out there'.
Strong, feminine and classy.

DawnOfTheDee · 18/11/2013 20:10

I did really like until I met a bitchy Naomi who put me right off it. If your life is free of stoopid, bitchy, saxophone-playing Naomi's I would go definitely go for it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/11/2013 20:06

I like it. But only said Nay-oh-me

Theonlyoneiknow · 18/11/2013 19:44

I love it. Was on list for DD

SS3J · 18/11/2013 19:13

I really like it and it was in my girl list, but I once knew someone with the name pronounced NOW-mi which I thought was really weird. She was convinced hers was the correct pronunciation, but I have never heard anyone else do this! I would say it Nay-O-mi.

Spaghettinetti · 18/11/2013 19:03

Yay. It's a nice name and not at all common.

SteeleyeStan · 18/11/2013 18:29

Yay. It sounds nice, uncomplicated and classic. And also went to Uni with a Naomi; she was lovely.

I also love the version Noomi, but that might be a lot less uncomplicated in the UK.

Yika · 18/11/2013 18:14

Love it.
