Nicknames for Rebecca that aren't Becky/Becca?

Hi,

DH and I really like Rebecca as a name but I really don't like Becky or Becca as a nickname. I just think that even if I always say Rebecca it's so long that others won't and Becky is an inevitability. Can anyone think of any (pretty) alternatives that we could use?

Thanks
xxx

snowybird1 · 03/01/2019 10:41

Bex?

Beckylouise1 · 03/01/2019 00:11

Rae is a lovely nickname for Rebecca. My name is Rebecca but I was always called becky until I found that name... No i prefer to go by that.

RuthW · 27/12/2018 19:32

I had a friend who shortened it to Reb. She disliked Becky and was never called that.

ladybranstonpickle · 27/12/2018 15:04

my old flatemate was Rebecca and I called her Reb-reb - i think its cute and have never heard any other Rebeccas with that nickname.

daisypond · 27/12/2018 12:12

Reba, Riva, Reva, Rivka, Rea.

nocluenoidea · 27/12/2018 10:21

Becs
I don't think you should call your baby Rebecca though if you don't like the nicknames as I think they are inevitable!

Sophronia · 27/12/2018 02:31

Rebbie or Rivka

Astronica · 27/12/2018 00:35

Reba, Bee/Bea, Ree. Rebecca is such a beautiful name!

Dave87 · 27/12/2018 00:03

Everyone forgets the nickname Revy for Rebecca. That's an awesome nickname!

ChipsandGuac · 08/10/2015 12:25

I much prefer Becky/Beccy to Becca and Bex. I know a few Rebecca's and all but one are known as Rebecca now they are adults.

PallasCat · 08/10/2015 12:17

Bee, Ruby and Reeba.
But as PPs have said, if you actively dislike the most common nn, it's a risky choice I think.

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 07/10/2015 10:28

I know a Rebekah and Rebecca aged 11 or 12

Seems to be more common among adults tho, I was at school with lots of Becca and Becky and know plenty around my age now. Can't think of any that don't use Bex, Bec, Becky or Becca.

My mums parents hate nicknames but gave all their children long nsmes that are usually shortened (think Samuel, Benjamin but not those exactly). My mum has used various short forms since school but her family still use the long form. It's only recently that she's stopped signing her full name to them, having decided she can choose what she calls herself regardless of what they call her

daisychicken · 06/10/2015 07:35

Another Rebecca here! As a child I refused to be called anything but Rebecca and would correct everyone who tried to shorten it. Now, I generally refer to myself as Becca, Bec or Becs. Only DM, my oldest friend and for some reason my DMIL (as I always referred to myself as Becca by the time I met her) call me Rebecca. I refuse to be called Becky.

Other Rebecca's I've known growing up have been Rebecca, Becky or Bex.

I also recall hearing the name spelt as Rebekah and quite like that but I have enough faff with spelling my surname plus the 'is it 1 or 2 'c''s in Rebecca?' drove me nuts so I'd never cope with my name spelt differently!

ServingSuggestion · 06/10/2015 06:46

flUffy It's the 'cky' bit on the end that bothers me. No idea why and it's pretty irrational, but I just don't like it. I always correct people when they call me Becky.

fluffywhitekittens · 05/10/2015 17:24

Why all the hatred of Becky/Beckie?!

Bexx ?

ThePug · 05/10/2015 15:45

I'm a Rebecca. My parents always have and always will call me Rebecca (except when I was little my dad called me Reeb which I hated!). To my friends and anyone I have met since University age, I am Becca but never Becky.

Marisaurus · 05/10/2015 15:27

I know a Rebecca who's Becca was turned into Bee.

Themoleandcrew · 05/10/2015 13:39

My friends sister is Rebecca but had always been known as Betty/ bet.
