What do you think of the name Lucy?

I love it, I think it is so cute and sweet but not too childish, a classy name at all ages --- BUT is it too common/popular and boring?

Do you know a lot of Lucy's, more than one Lucy in your child's class etc?

Lovely name - underused at the minute for babies/children but there are quite a few my age (1990)

I'm in southeast London. I haven't heard of very many at all round here. But heard about 4/5 being called in Cornwall when we were on holiday. Still not especially common IMO.

Lucy was a very popular name when I was at school, there were 3 in my year group of 100 (40 girls). However, I don't now know anyone called Lucy who is under 25 (and I'm a teacher). It's a lovely name.

Gosh, I can't imagine knowing so many small children that a DOZEN of them are called Lucy. Where are these hotbeds of Lucidom? I have only met three in my life: one aged around 50, other two in 20s/30s. It's a great name

Lucy Abigail flows a little better than Lucy Ava, but I prefer the name Ava over Abigail! I don't know that many with the name & so it could be a good choice if you want something pretty & classic & not overly used.

Definitely Lucy Abigail. Lucy Ava sounds like a funny made up word when you say it quickly.

What are her/your grandmothers' names? Nothing nice you could use there?

I love the name Lucy. I have a good friend (mid-thirties) who was the only one Lucy in our class at school and I only know one little Lucy.

Dd1 is Lucy. She's 7. School has roughly 400 pupils and not another lucy. Plenty of Freya darcy grace chloebut no other lucy. We do here the name a fair bit when out and about thothough.

I know about a dozen; most of them primary school age and under. There is nothing wrong with the name and it sounds nice; but personally I find it a bit bland and diluted, maybe because I know so many.

Love it - was our girl's name when had DC1 (boy). Even although it is not an unusual name, I have only ever come across one.

I went to school with a Lucinda, love that also.

My DD is Lucy, so I'm biased. I don't know any other little Lucys from all my gallivanting around baby/toddler classes and soft play centres!

Never received a catsbum face when I've introduced her, but a lot of people have said what a beautiful and classic name it is.
plus I can call her Lucifer when she's awake at 5am. Again.

I'm a Lucy. I'm 26. There were four in my class growing up. I hated being known as Lucy "X" by teachers. I guess it's nice to have a name that's still popular but it made me think that I'm not keen on popular names for that reason.

My Mum did catsbum face when I told her I was naming DD Lucy and said it's a dogs name. I didn't let that stop me, I think it's pretty and classic.

This is reassuring on popularity, and I'm glad it's getting a positive reaction. I think because it is such a well known name I was worried. I like the meaning and narnia connection too.

It would definitely be just Lucy and not lucinda etc. I like the simplicity of just Lucy.

I have a Lucy. Don't know any others apart from my grown up friend who she is named after. Obviously, I love it!

Dd (age10) is a Lucy. I think there is one other Lucy in their school - c420 kids.

I know of another Lucy who is 12yrs old. None at my ds2's preschool.
