My total favourite is:

  1. Willa Francoise ( Middle name non negotiable as family name)

DH likes Paloma Francoise
Flora Francoise

He doesn't like Willa but sure I can persuade him! What's your fav please ?I could compromise and call her Paloma but Lola for short.

Thanks in advance!

Willa is much the nicest. How cool to have Willa Cather as a namesake!

Hyperhelpmum · 10/11/2013 15:42

I'm surprised how many people do like Paloma. I'm getting more positive about it!

Paloma, Definitely.

Ruprekt · 10/11/2013 11:39

Definitely Paloma!

Willa is not pretty imho.

Paloma is just lovely.

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 10/11/2013 11:36

Paloma.

ICameOnTheJitney · 10/11/2013 11:34

My DD has a Spanish name OP...not one person has asked if we have a Spanish connection.

As for Willow and William not attracting Willy jokes....I think the issue with Willa is that it's just more like Willy on it's own.

octopusinastringbag · 10/11/2013 11:33

I thought of that character from the flintstones first of all and remembered that it was Wilma not Willa.

Sorry but not at all keen on Willa but I love the middle name that you've chosen. I like Paloma but not at all keen on Lola either but that's perhaps because the Lola that I know has something in common with Bakewell.

ICameOnTheJitney · 10/11/2013 11:32

Paloma and Lola are gorgeous. I also love Flora but not Willa....she'll get called Will....or worse...Willy!

Frontdoorstep · 10/11/2013 11:26

Willa sounds to me that there is an m missing in there somewhere and her name is Wilma. I hadn't thought of the Willy connection and that wouldn't worry me tbh.

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 10/11/2013 11:17

I love Paloma, I don't think that the lack of Spanish link is an issue.

Can't stand Flora, sorry! I don't understand it's popularity.

Willa seems unfinished, Willow is lovely, but Willa sounds like you misheard Willow and have never seen it written down.

Hyperhelpmum · 10/11/2013 09:47

It's funny as DH very worried about Willa bring teased and the butt of Willy jokes yet plenty of little boys are called William/Will and Willow is increasingly popular. I agree with CordeliaRose as think its strong yet feminine. I do agree it could sound 'unfinished'. My issue with Paloma is as another poster said, current singer! Also a pretty 'foreign' name and we have no link with Spain! Does that matter? Not too worried about middle names matching. I always use a middle name with family / sentimental connection not to match first name as I will never call her ** Francoise. Its a very important person in my life as are my other DC middle names. Thanks for all your input everyone. Nice to read opinions.

Paloma is lovely, and goes well with Francoise, Lola is sweet while she is little, sassy when she is a teenager, and Paloma is a beautiful grown up name.
Flora is a pretty name, but I'm not sure about it going with Francoise very well.
I'm not keen on Willa at all, sounds too harsh and abrupt to me.

ChristineDaae · 10/11/2013 09:16

I like Paloma best, not keen on Lola though.

hawkmcqueen · 10/11/2013 09:04

Paloma/Lola is lovely, first choice by a long way
Flora second choice
Willa I would not choose, sounds unfinished and teasing will be non stop

Tikkamasala · 10/11/2013 02:10

Flora

DitsyDonkey · 09/11/2013 22:49

I like all three, so whichever your little dd ends up with will be lucky!

lifesgreatquestions · 09/11/2013 22:24

I was thinking that few people say their middle name when introducing themselves so it might matter less of the first and second name "match"?

However flora makes me think of butter, and Paloma is s popular singer at the moment and might become a popular name. I'd go for Willa, quite unique, pretty and strong.

CordeliaRose · 09/11/2013 22:19

Willa is fabulous, OP. I have suggested it a few times on these threads!
It's a strong, feminine name IMO - Willa Anderson, born in Shetland in 1890, was one of the first women to study for a degree at the University of St Andrews, and graduated with first class honours in Classics.

Sunnysummer · 09/11/2013 21:45

May just be immature, but Willa also makes me think 'willy'. Wilhelmina could still be nn Willa but also something else if kids at school are mean?

Alternatively I think that Paloma nn Lola Francoise is beautiful Smile

Can you wait until she arrives? We were really torn between names, but once DS arrived it was suddenly clear that only one name really fit. Good luck!

halecromp · 09/11/2013 21:23

Love Flora, Willa is ok, not keen on Paloma x

squoosh · 09/11/2013 19:55

Really like Paloma.

Flora is okay.

Willa doesn't appeal to me at all, brings out the 7 year old child in me and makes me think 'willy'.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/11/2013 19:37

Sorry - just seen its francoise.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/11/2013 19:36

Willa is not nice at all. Paloma is nice, but too much with Francois (isn't that male?).

SpottedDickandCustard · 09/11/2013 19:30

I was offering alternatives because the OP and her DH cannot agree on one of the 3 names.

No need to be so snippy.
