I did a search on Mumsnet for threads containing this name and the only bad things people mentioned were the Cornish comedian and that it's a bit redneck/hillbilly.

I think most people of my parents generation (I'm 29) would make the comedian association but I don't think people my age and certainly my childrens age would think of him straight away. I also think people would have said Seth was too redneck/hillbilly/farmer a few years ago and now it's quite popular so obviously I'm just cooler than you! Wink

So any other thoughts about Jethro? Will it become trendy do to it's 'O' ending? Like Milo, Otto, Arlo etc?

Jethro is a great name - cool, masculine and not overused.

I don't know anyone called it, nor do I know the comedian...Confused. Anyway, your Jethro will become his name!

I really like it, and Jet is a cool nn. Only makes me think of the guy from NCIS.

I think Jethro Tull, the prog rock band, so to me it sounds quite 1970s. I've never heard of the comedian.

I like it though, I can imagine a Jethro being quite a cool kid. Also it's pretty rare these days but at the same time a widely known name.

Go for it!

I don't know who the comedian is either!

It's an ok name, I don't love it but I don't hate it either

I don't know who the comedian is, the connection I make is to the pop group Jethro Tull and also to the agricultural guy Jethro Tull.

Fwiw I've never known a Jethro, Milo, Otto or Arlo.
