curlew, I don't think the op is deciding a personality for her child, merely has a preference for a certain type of name. I like elegant, classical, feminine but unusual girls name purely because they happen to be what I like. DD has such a name. She is a rugby playing, superhero adoring, tree climbing tomboy. Because that's who she is. Her name is nothing to do with that. I also like slightly poncy, effeminate, lefty boys' names. So far DS isn't any of those things. I just like the sound of certain types of names.

Soupy's right too. Girls don't need to be anything other than who they are and comfortable with it.
