Isaac or Tobias?

I love them both. I really love Toby as a nickname but I've just had a call from my mum (who honestly doesn't have a problem with what we call our son) going "you can't call him Toby, I've just realised it sounds like Jobby!" We're Scottish and jobby (meaning poo) is a word quite commonly used where I live but I'm doubtful that anyone would actually pick up on it.

Any advice?

Prefer Tobias/Toby.

lola0106 · 29/10/2013 13:49

We are calling our son Toby Grin I like Tobias but I know quite a few children with that name so are going for Toby x

JoJoManon · 29/10/2013 12:58

Isaac personally. Plus I like Zach as a nickname more than Toby. Just an opinion.

Lucyadams184 · 29/10/2013 10:26

I like both but I prefer Isaac.

smithwillsam · 29/10/2013 07:22

Isaac is such a beautiful name. I love the name. It's our second choice name if we have a boy.

caz05 · 28/10/2013 20:47

I love the name Isaac as I have one, also like Toby but not keen on Tobias although you have to go with what you think and don't listen to other people too much

TerrorTremor · 28/10/2013 20:46

My sister's dog is called Tobias (everyone calls him Toby though).

Ironically, she is thinking about calling her son Isaac.

Possible nn for Isaac I have heard though is Issy.

Which might sound a bit girlish.

TheBuskersDog · 28/10/2013 11:13

I like Tobias but I don't know why have never liked the name Toby. I think maybe Tobias sounds dignified and Toby definitely doesn't, Toby sounds like a dog's name. I think of them as two different names really.

I know a grown up Toby and it just seems wrong. I also know an 8 yo Tobias who is always called Tobias, never Toby.

Whereisegg · 28/10/2013 11:00

I have a Tobias.
We call him Tobias/Bias/Toby.
His best friend calls him Toby Wan Kenobe Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/10/2013 10:52

Tobias.

Though Isaac is nice too.

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 26/10/2013 20:38

I know a Tobias and parents call him Bias for short

alwaysneedaholiday · 26/10/2013 20:31

Tobias.

2children2cats · 26/10/2013 20:28

They are both lovely names but Isaac wins for me, it has such a lovely meaning.

DaleyBump · 26/10/2013 19:50

I didn't think it sounded like jobby either Grin it was just my mum who thought so then :) and I've heard boaby used as a nice nickname occasionally so that wouldn't really bother me.

Agh I love them both!

Both lovely names.

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/10/2013 19:28

I love Isaac. I think it is sweet for a baby and manly for an adult. Perfect.

Clargo55 · 26/10/2013 19:27

I love Tobias.

tobiasfunke · 26/10/2013 17:26

Pick me. Pick me. However don't watch any episodes of Arrested Development or it might put you right off Tobias.

QueenMedb · 26/10/2013 17:15

Isaac is lovely. I love Tobias, but am not so keen on Toby as a nickname.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 26/10/2013 16:59

Hahaha Squoosh @ boaby - haven't heard that for years!

PavlovtheCat · 26/10/2013 16:55

Tobias.

squoosh · 26/10/2013 16:51

Isaac definitely.

Toby is a bit babyish. But no Toby doesn't rhyme with 'jobby', I don't think anyone would make that connection. They might think 'boaby' however!

CPtart · 26/10/2013 16:50

Love Isaac. Like Toby but not Tobias.

elcranko · 26/10/2013 16:43

Tobias.

Littlecherublegs · 26/10/2013 16:41

I love both but much prefer Zac to Toby so for that reason Id say Isaac.
