Alice every time.

Tikkamasala · 26/10/2013 00:26

I love Alexandra tho not so fussed on Alex as a nickname, sounds boyish to me. Dotnt love Lexie either. I do like sasha as an alternative nickname. I like Alice too but seems a bit more boring.

NachoAddict · 25/10/2013 22:53

I like Alice a lot, I'm not keen on Alexandria and really hate Lexie, sorry to any out there.

BellaVida · 25/10/2013 15:48

You could always go with Alessandra and Alice for short?

peanutMD · 25/10/2013 15:47

Alice

atomicyoghurt · 25/10/2013 15:46

And given what foofoo says perhaps we should team up!

atomicyoghurt · 25/10/2013 15:45

Alice may or may not be my actual name. I hate it.

NewbieMcNewbie · 25/10/2013 15:44

I love Alice.

Bowlersarm · 25/10/2013 15:40

Alexandra.

By far.

Strong name but so so many lovely shortening as well.

foofooyeah · 25/10/2013 15:40

Alexandra. Fabulous name! not my name, no, not at all

ajandjjmum · 25/10/2013 15:38

I have an Alexandra - Alex - who is certainly strong and stands out. Just wish she did it more quietly occasionally!!!

She is 20 now, and would have preferred the nickname 'Lexi'.

Still18atheart · 25/10/2013 15:03

I like both but especially Alexandra I think it's because it has more nn possibilities

JoJoManon · 25/10/2013 15:02

If I have a girl Alexandra is in our top two. With Lexi or Sasha for short. OH not crazy about it but I'm the one giving birth!

Thurlow · 24/10/2013 22:01

Alexandra, or Alexandria. Lots more shortenings. Ours is Alex or Allie. For me, it works better for a whole life as there's so much choice for them what they do with the name when they are older.

But Alice is a lovely name too. I'm just biased.

Bathtimesoaker · 24/10/2013 21:54

Alice is beautiful, I also love it when spelt the Welsh way, Alys.

playingwithlegos · 24/10/2013 19:40

Alexandra stands out more - it's a very strong name. Alice is more girly and "fitting in"

Alexandra. Les 'prim' sounding and old fashioned. And lots of nicknames. Don't like 'Ali' as nn for Alice.

Yama · 23/10/2013 21:55

Much prefer Alexandra. It it strong and beautiful.

Alice has grown on me but I've always thought it a bit weak.

hurricanemum · 23/10/2013 21:52

Alice - pretty, classic, not too fussy
Alexandra - bit pretentious (sorry) but I really love Lexi as a nn for this!

AliceinSlumberland · 22/10/2013 22:25

I'm an Alice (obviously) and love my name, even as a grown up! I never really get called a nickname at all.

YBR · 22/10/2013 12:29

Or Alys (an old spelling of Alice, found more in welsh or old french).

My DH thinks it better because it doesn't contain -lice!

playingwithlegos · 22/10/2013 11:00

Love Alix but I think it is a) Likely to be considered as a boys' name as similar to Alex and b) a bit medieval-sounding :-)

OP posts:
Brodicea · 22/10/2013 10:52

How about Alix - it's the Germanic form of Alice (think Beatrice / Beatrix). I am totally being biased BTW

playingwithlegos · 22/10/2013 10:45

I think Alexandra sounds better fro a grown up and Alice - for a little girl! But Alice as nickname for Alexandra would probably be strange :-)))
