our third child is due next week and we are still undecided.
Dh is of Nigerian origin so we have a Nigerian surname. His late father was named Gabriel and its growing on me.
We have 2 girls and this is our 1st boy.
is it too feminine?
who likes it ?

other favs are Benjamin and Arron.

You don't have to be called Gabriel to get called gay by the kids at school. Gabe is a lovely shortened version.

ElBombero · 24/10/2013 14:57

Awww I know a little Gabe, he's adorable x

bootsycollins · 24/10/2013 14:57

I would worry about 'Gay' as a nn.

NauseousKitty · 24/10/2013 14:02

I absolutely love it and it is top of my list for DC2. There's just a little part of my head that wonders if he would get bullied and be called 'gay' at school (nothing wrong with being gay... not even going down that road)? I live in a very northern 'manly man' type area and children can be mean. Opinions anyone...?

Emmabombemma · 24/10/2013 00:13

I love it. It was my first choice for a boy. It's such a strong, classic name.

BettyBi0 · 21/10/2013 22:59

Gorgeous name and definitely on my short list if I ever have a boy.

I don't put Gabriel and Gabriella in the same box for some reason though.

squoosh · 21/10/2013 11:22

I adore the name Gabriel.

TenthMuse · 21/10/2013 11:16

Beautiful name, by no means too feminine - I say go for it!

CrispyFB · 21/10/2013 10:28

There's a lot more of them in America than here in the UK. It sits quite comfortably in the not-hugely-unusual-but-you-don't-see-too-many category which is the category we aspire to for naming! Somewhere in the low 100s I think? Anyway I've only ever had very positive reactions to my 2.5 year old with many people saying how much they love the name.

Frecklesandspecs · 21/10/2013 10:25

I've found boys names much more difficult thanchosing a girls name for some reason....

Gabriel and Gabriella are both on our list. It's so hard tho. Yesterday I didn't like either of them today I love them both. Was always indecisive but pregnancy has made it 10 times worse!

Frecklesandspecs · 20/10/2013 21:07

yes ever, I'm sure his family Will be very happy!
;-) fantastic! not biased are you?!

I love it too, DD2 would have been Gabriel if she'd been a boy.

I know an adult Gabriel and a baby Gabriel. Both known as Gabe. I love it.

Marrow · 19/10/2013 09:55

I know an adult Gabriel that I have known since he was a toddler. His name has always suited him.
