Prepared for a flaming. Grin

We're thinking of this as a middle name and both have heritage from countries where it's a recognised name.

I prefer Augustus, but I still like it very much. I have a Gus Smile

Mim78 · 10/10/2013 10:53

I'm sure it works as a boy's name. Esp as you are using it as a middle name.

Fifibluebell · 08/10/2013 12:30

Chosen

Fifibluebell · 08/10/2013 12:29

smithwillsam · 08/10/2013 12:21

My friend's name August Megert. It's a beautiful name and suits his personality perfectly.

CruCru · 07/10/2013 17:15

I know an American little boy called August.

bundaberg · 05/10/2013 23:02

i do however love Augustus

Vecta · 05/10/2013 22:56

Makes me think of Fringe, but I expect this is quite an obscure reaction even now and will get even more obscure as the programme dates.

colleysmill · 05/10/2013 22:54

I watched an old episode of Taggart last night & there was a character called August. Although he did turn out to have murdered 2 people ..........

Lostmarbles99 · 05/10/2013 22:49

Sorry but it's terrible.

Dilidali · 05/10/2013 07:12

I like it. It's a strong name. I know a few Augustins and Augustinas. If it recognises part of your heritage, even better. I don't think it's strange at all :)

shoobidoo · 05/10/2013 07:00

August is a great name - strong, classic and underused. Lovely!

Sam, Oliver or Leo are so much more widely used already.

TooTryHard · 04/10/2013 22:29

This is not negative as anticipated. Hmm. Might go and ask about Sam or Oliver and see if thet get ripped to shreds instead!

I love it but thought it might be too 'out there'. We might cave and use Leo instead but I think August is great and prefer it.

August Rush is a beautiful film

dyslexicdespot · 04/10/2013 22:09

August Strindberg was a famous Swedish playwright. I love the name, perfect for a boy.

halfwayupthehill · 04/10/2013 22:04

August wilson is a famous american playwright. The law and order actress has a son called august.

MERLYPUSS · 04/10/2013 21:43

Fine.

CarlaBrooni · 04/10/2013 17:34

No no no

Vatta · 04/10/2013 17:19

It can be a boy's name, and is fairly well known as one. There's a book in the bestsellercharts at the moment called wonder where the male lead character is called August, known as auggie for short. I like it.

hatebeak · 04/10/2013 16:54

Definitely a boy's name and a brilliant one at that!

DancingLady · 04/10/2013 16:46

Augustus Gloop is all I can think of...

fondantfancier · 04/10/2013 16:44

I just finished reading a book with a male August in. I think it's a great name.

shoobidoo · 04/10/2013 13:59

August and Augustus are definately masculine names!

The female form is Augusta.

I think August is a great, strong name.

YDdraigGoch · 04/10/2013 12:49

It's a name for a girl IMO, but it's a middle name, so will never be used/heard again after the christening!
