Ok...here is my list. DH has already poo-poo'd a few of them but I thought I'd post the whole list to give you a 'flavour' of the kind of names I like.

Cherry
Clementine
Calista
Luna
Misty
Persephone
Ramona
Aisling
Allegra
Claudia
Stella
Reina

Not even got round to thinking of middle names yet but suggestions welcome for first &/or middle names very very welcome. Smile

Love Ramona and Claudia. Only think puts me off Ramona a tad is the Moaner nn.

DawnOfTheDee · 27/09/2013 13:58

Haha - ta for the heads up on Reina!

DD1 is Melody Smile

(Pepe) Reina was the Liverpool goalkeeper until very recently (strapping fellow) so be prepared for jokes on that one.

I like Calista and Stella.

oscarwilde · 27/09/2013 13:45

Used to work with someone who pronounced it Tal eee tha. Corrected anyone who mispronounced it. Puts me right off. Tabitha is nicer Sabrina ?
Aisling can also be spelt Ashling which works better in the UK

What is DD1 called ? It is nice if the names work together I think

cece · 27/09/2013 13:42

Cherry - not for me
Clementine - nor this one, reminds of a cow name
Calista - pretty
Luna - potential for fun making
Misty - porn star?
Persephone - love this but would never be brave enough to go for it
Ramona - no
Aisling - only if you're Irish
Allegra - pretty
Claudia - good
Stella - would make me think of the lager
Reina - renal? no

magicstars · 27/09/2013 13:40

I like cherry & clementine best.

DawnOfTheDee · 27/09/2013 13:37

Is it pronoucned Talitha with the stress on the first syllable? Haven't heard it before and I think i quite like it.

Calista is my favourite, closely followed by Allegra.

Have you considered Talitha?

SmokedMackerel · 27/09/2013 13:30

I really don't like Cherry or Misty. They sound like a pet's name rather than a person's.

The others are all rather nice, I think, not all necessarily what I would choose, but I wouldn't laugh/be transfixed with horror if I heard someone else use them. I especially love Clementine, which I would consider using myself.

DawnOfTheDee · 27/09/2013 13:25

Agree about the shorter middle name.

I have no worries about persuading DH if I really loved one of them. Before we found out we were having another girl I managed to convince him that Elmo was an uber-cool name and no-one watches/remembers Sesame Street anymore so it would be totally ok to use....Wink

I love Clementine and Persephone. I think both would need a short middle name, what about Ruth? I found DH was more accepting of a "posh" or complex girls name when presented with a cute and more mainstream nickname. (as it is, he picked the most ordinary name on my list!)

DawnOfTheDee · 27/09/2013 13:18

I do love them! I just need help whittling down the list.

In a weird way if i ask what people think of a name and get a few 'meh, don't like it' but I'm still thinking I would use it then it reaffirms how much I do like it. Probably didn't explain that too well but in short I just like bouncing ideas round.

I'm 23wks pg with DD 2 and was talking about showing my list to the mn jury last night with DH. Am genuinely interested in people's views. I promise I won't get upset Grin

Clementine I love.
Aisling and Claudia lovely too. The others, not keen.

AmandaPandtheNightmareMonsters · 27/09/2013 13:16

Cherry - Not keen. Always sounds a bit made up to my ear. Like Apple.

Clementine - Again, not a fan of the fruit theme, but prefer it to Cherry.

Calista - I like this.

Luna - the link with Lunatic puts me off.

Misty - Not a fan I'm afraid.

Persephone - I think this is fab. Love the nickname Effie too

Ramona - Great

Aisling - Good if you/she can cope with all the people who won't know how to say or spell it.

Allegra
Claudia
Stella - All nice but not outstanding.

Reina - Not keen. Think it's the link with all the royal words.

My favourite would be Persephone, plus Calista and Romona.

Sorry, are some of those too harsh. I love some of them!

tammytoby · 27/09/2013 13:13

Love Clementine, Calista, Luna, Persephone, Allegra and Stella!! Lovely, feminine underused classics!!

But YOU need to love them, not us, a random collection of interetters Smile.
