I was thinking classic and beautiful and now I'm wobbling.

I love it and it's DDs middle name. I would totally have used for first name but DH was annoying.

I'm always lol when people prefer Francesca and see that as 'posh' because it's v popular among the chav element where my family live. Once you've heard Francesca ge' 'ere now ya little +@#* yelled across the shop in a thick Scouse accent it will be ruined forever :p

NadiaWadia · 25/09/2013 23:03

Sorry I find it dull and a bit unisex - because of the male name Francis which sounds the same. Francesca is lovely though.

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 25/09/2013 22:58

I love it. Definitely classic and beautiful. And plenty of options for more informal nicknames. A winner.

ICameOnTheJitney · 25/09/2013 22:47

It's very pretty in my opinion...lovely.

TooTryHard · 25/09/2013 22:44

Thank you all for helping me fall back in love with it. It was always a dead cert. Maybe I'm too hormonal this week to think straight since I have no alternatives.

Lovely name

MrsDibble · 25/09/2013 22:25

PS - I think Frankie is quite nice nn.

donttellalfred · 25/09/2013 22:18

Frances is a great name. Good nns, classic, not too common, love it.

moodyblues · 25/09/2013 22:17

Classic. Please don't call her Frankie though.

heymammy · 25/09/2013 22:15

Love it, 'tis dd1's middle name after my granddad Smile

TooTryHard · 25/09/2013 22:15

Very lovely and elegant.

MatildaWhispers · 25/09/2013 22:13

I like it, but I don't think of it as a beautiful name - I think because it is so close to the boy's name Francis.

So I think of it as a 'strong' and non-girly girl's name (but in a good way!).

elQuintoConyo · 25/09/2013 22:12

Lovely Grin

There are also nns: Fran, Franny, France

smother · 25/09/2013 22:10

Gorgeous. a refreshing change from the usual girls names you hear.

Amy106 · 25/09/2013 22:10

Lovely name

MrsDibble · 25/09/2013 22:09

Love Frances. It is really classic and no one much is using it.

There is a reason I can't use it otherwise I would.

It does make me think of Dirty Dancing though!

TooTryHard · 25/09/2013 22:07

I like Francie as a nn but think Frankie might well happen!

Wishfulmakeupping · 25/09/2013 22:04

Classic not frumpy at all

dashoflime · 25/09/2013 22:00

I like it. Frankie makes a nice nick name too

Khara · 25/09/2013 21:59

I wanted it for dd - dh wasn't convinced. So we settled on it being her middle name. It was my grandma's name.
