As only like girl names, and oops, it's apparently a boy!

Must be pronounced the same in Hebrew and English, for example, sister's name is Ella.

No Adam or Ben or really old fashioned biblical names like Ezra. What do you think about Ori? Easy to say in English?

Thankfully we have time to decide and think about it!

Saul?

Fillybuster · 23/09/2013 15:31

We had the same challenge.

I have a ds with a similar name to 'Ori' and it isn't the easiest to live with here...it's fine as he can spell it quickly, but everyone assumes he's just dropping a consonant when he first introduces himself.

How about:

Liran
Matan
Miel
Elai
Nadav
Nitzan

Sorry, that came out ruder than I meant pregnancy hormones

Rafi?

VitaminC Yes, definitely want a name that would also work in Israel. But OH is British and we live in the UK so it has to work both ways as much as possible.

Thanks everyone else, but whilst some of these names are lovely, they are definitely in the old fashioned, biblical category. Am not Orthodox and have no intention giving a name mostly used by Jewish Orthodox, no offence.

Not sure about Ori, but I like Oren.
What about Ariel? Avigdor? Nathaniel?

Are you looking for names that would work in Israel, as trends and fashions there would obviouly have to be taken into account, if you want to avoid giving a name that would sound too dated...

Asher Barak David (obv!) Jonathan Judah Joshua
