Just out of curiosity,I've read a few threads where names beginning with the letter A have been discounted.

I was wondering what the reason for this is?

Ah, but I have a fabulous surname to go with my 'A'!

Bad if you have a "noun" surname, but otherwise I don't see the issue.

I far more often see sneering about K- names.

I love girls names beginning with A too which is the reason for my question.

I thought it might have been something to do with not wanting the child to be the first name called out in schools etc.

Agree re surname - 'A' can be a problem with names like Pratt, Burke, etc Grin!

Nothing at all in fact I think they are the best Wink

Like any name though needs to be considered carefully with surname...

We have ruled out names starting with A because me and my hubby's both do so a bit to twee in our opinion which is a shame as ruled out some of my favourite girls names
