Due DC2 very early in January, and we just found out it's a girl. We have a son already and it was lucky we did as we were totally stuck for girls names and we seem to have the same problem this time! We definitely could use some inspiration. I don't mind popular but would prefer not to pick a super popular name. We live in N. Ireland and DS has an Irish name. Here is our shortlist so far, we're just not sure we LOVE any of them. Honest opinions/suggestions very welcome!

Niamh
Amy/Aimee
Julia/Juliet
Amelie
Aoibhinn (pronounced Eve-een)

Names I also like but can't convince DH
Isla
Eilidh
Lily/Lila
Maeve
Grace

I like Niamh, Julia, Isla, Lila and Grace.

Not keen on Amy/Aimee, Juliet or Maeve.

Amelie and Lily are both nice, but too popular for me, but maybe not a problem where you are?

I wouldn't use Aoibhinn in case she ever wants to live outside Ireland because I think most people wouldn't know where to start with pronouncing or spelling it.

How is Eilidh pronounced?

Congrats!

I like all except Amy, just cos I've known whingy aaaammeeeeeeeeeeees. Prob not likely to be said like that in Ireland though :-)

Yvaine
Clodagh
Una (either oona or yoona, as in Una Stubbs)
Erin

Well, dd is Amy, my best friend is Julia, her dd is Niamh, so I am totally biased...!

Before I saw your list Emer sprang to mind.

Love Niamh and Maeve, and considered both for dd1.

From short list I'd go with Niamh or Amelie. I am biased (DD name) but I love Eilidh. I also really like Isla and would consider it if there is a DD2.

Not keen on Julie/Juliet, Maeve or Grace
