Same initial for both children? Or too twee?

Hello

I have been asking friends' opinions on this so thought I would ask Mumsnet too... Would you give a second child of the same sex a name beginning with the same initial? Or is it too twee?

Eg
Toby and Tristan
Oliver and Oscar
Harry and Henry

etc, etc.

Opinions gratefully received!

I could have a good few sons all with J names. Jackson, Joshua, Jonah, Jude, Jacob, James, love all of them!

What to be said, if you like two names that happen to have same initial I would def do it. Wouldn't pick a deliberate theme though.

I would neither avoid nor deliberately do it. It just depends if I liked the names or not.

I'd also think about whether I was wanting more or not. 3 with the same initial might be ok, but 4+ is just too much! (Looks at Michelle and Bob Duggar!)

I would avoid unless you absolutely can't think of any other name you love. If you have one in between with a different initial it's not as bad imo e.g. Toby, William and Tristan is ok.

Oliver and Oscar are too similar because they have the same sound at the end as well.

Harry is a nickname for Henry traditionally, so maybe not a good combination.

Dont do it...

Think about the post !

HeyJudith · 18/09/2013 19:58

Personally I love it

but an awful lot of people are going to be commenting on the

POST ISSUE (in terms of the same initials)

Now, have you thought of that? Grin

(Sorry I have been on MN for 10 years now (not on same user name) so have seen the same stuff doing the rounds so I can tell you that's what replies will largely be based around :) )
