Blimey. You did ask....

CordeliaRose · 02/10/2013 21:06

Update I have gone off Tristan. It's a great name just not for us. Current front runners are Toby, Johnny or James.

James is my favourite name for a boy ('nn' Jamie).
I like Johnny too, especially as it was my lovely Papa's name.
Honor is a fabulous name! Smile

I think Tristan is a great name and goes well with the lovely name honor, too.

allyfe · 02/10/2013 20:33

Daughterofafarmer it is really hard when there is nothing that grabs you. I got all tied up with thinking about whether names would be a fad, and what was popular, and what wasn't. For my dd we went for a name which was much more popular than I would have liked, but it was my favourite name for years and so we decided to stuff the fact that it was going to be a fad, and use it anyway. But you can't ever predict with names really, unless it is something that is currently really professional. And just to add, I don't know any Honors and I know a lot of middle class professionals :)

Suzietwo · 02/10/2013 20:12

Middle class professionals

daughterofafarmer · 02/10/2013 20:07

ally nothing that we really love. Finding it tough.

susie who?

Oh, always read the second page. I LOVE James. I also like Tobias (nn Toby). Johnny I'm less keen on because I don't like Jonathan.

Suzietwo · 02/10/2013 20:03

I liked honor but think it's been over used by a certain kind of parent

allyfe · 02/10/2013 20:02

Don't like Tristan personally. Do really like Honor. Any other things you like OP? Personally I don't think the names of siblings have to 'work' together. They spend so little of their lives related to their siblings. Just go for names you like.

daughterofafarmer · 02/10/2013 19:58

lly mmm we all ready have an Honor! But thanks for your views none the less Wink

I have a Tristan & for yrs he couldn't pronounce own name correctly, plus folk think he's Christian, Dustin or Justin. And people mispell or mis-say it routinely. Of your alternatives I like James best then Johnny. Honor is a bit stark for me, though. Sort of harsh & plain. But it goes well with James.

James actually means "lame", if you are that bothered by meaning or insinuations.

thamesk8 · 02/10/2013 17:03

Love them together.

oldhippie · 02/10/2013 16:26

Any other name suggestions?

catgirl1976 · 18/09/2013 19:53

Ah yes, we cats have superb taste in names Grin

CatAmongThePigeons · 18/09/2013 12:10

People are idiots, I fear I know more idiots than most who can't spell or pronounce names properly.

Cat girl has a Tristan too, there's something about cat folk who have great named children Wink

SkodaLabia · 18/09/2013 11:27

Honor is beautiful.

I'm another who finds Tristan a bit lacking in oomph for my taste. But I'm agog that people can't spell it!

catgirl1976 · 18/09/2013 07:28

Tristan means noisy :)

I have one and he is neither wet nor sad (he is noisy)

I love it (but of course am biased)

schplappo · 18/09/2013 01:42

Honor is the best ever name for a girl! (biased...)

Tristan goes pretty well with it, I think.

If you change your mind, how about
Theodore
Lucian (Luc)
Alexander
Milo
Thibault
Tobias
Mont(gomer)y
Darius

Good luck!

daughterofafarmer · 17/09/2013 17:23

cat some people are idoits. Personally it says more about them than the name Tristan.

OrangeJuiceSandwich · 17/09/2013 14:59

Tristan is miserable name for me. Don't like the meaning at all.
